SnugpakBasecamp Ops Nautilus SQ

I wish they made this Nautilus in right had zipper also.
I LOVE THIS SLEEPING BAG! It has the quality that Snugpak is known for but the weight is awesome. I also purchased the Basecamp OPS Navigator, but I ended giving those to my brothers for their sleeping system because believe it or not, that 1-2 lbs makes a big difference if your backpacking or bugging out. It is less bulky than the Navigator, but still feels relatively warm and durable. Soft to the touch and the skin, that's a big plus for me, and it is small enough to fit inside my 5.11 72 hour RUSH, along with my other supplies and not have to strap it to the outside. My only wish is that they made this bag with a right side zipper also, I've only seen the left zipper Nautilus. It would be nice to attach it to the right zipper sleeping bag to crate a quilt sleeping system like the Navigator L+R can. You can still attach the right Navigator to the left Nautilus, but the thickness and weight is different between the two models. Weight is important for us and this bag fits the bill in weight, style, size, comfort and warmth. So if this is important to you, get this bag!Either way, it is a great addition to my full Snugpak sleeping system and matches perfectly. I'm waiting for the Right Hand Nautilus to purchase a few more of these for the other women in my family. So come on Snugpak, bust out the right hand zipper system already to I can get to shopping!

Terrible design
I usually dont review gear, before field testing it, but this one fails from the start. Its too small. Im 6' and my head and toes are pressing the ends, making it uncomfortable and compromising its insulative properties. The hood is useless. It won't cinch up, just gets uncomfortable and makes the bag smaller, while leaving a large open gap across the shoulders and neck. It is only useful to use as a standard open top square bag. There is no extra insulation around the feet, meaning your feet are going to get cold and will necessitate heavy socks at a minimum. The only thing this bag has over a $26 Ozark Trails(which out performs it by 10°F), is a better zipper, half a pound and a bit smaller packed size... IF you can get it back into the undersized stuff sack.

Very Warm!
This bag kept me warm enough on a 48°F night that I slept in a t-shirt and shorts. The only bad thing I can say about this bag is it's big. The compression bag really doesn't help much. If your car camping it's great but I wouldn't recommend it for backpacking. It takes up a tremendous amount of space in my 65 liter pack in or out of the compression sack. At this price you really can't expect more.Oh, and it doesn't have any weird smells. I'm super sensitive to odors and this bag doesn't bother me at all.

Excellent product overall
This is one of the better sleeping bags that I have used and it rolls up fairly compactly. I was hoping that it would be a bit smaller when fully compacted (as one of my previous SnugPaks did durinng a military deployment), but it was small enough to fit in my pack regardless. It worked for me in both cool and warm temps and held up to repeated use.

This sort of thing is my bag...baby
This is amazing for the money. Just ordered 2 more. Small and light weight. I'm 6'1 185 and I got room to spare. I hate mummy bags with no room in the legs and feet. This fits the bill for a perfect bag unless extremely cold. Nice materials. Nice zippers. Just damn nice

Excellent bag
I love how roomy yet warm this bag is. During warmer nights, I was to allow airflow but unzipping the bottom so my feet could air out. And when nights got warmer still, I unzipped it completely and used it like a nice comforter. Haven't yet tested the water resistance but I expect the bag to hold up against a tent leak based on how well it has performed in all other areas.

Comfy Bag for Mild Temps
I’ve used this bag down to 40f and it kept me warm. The materials inside and out are very comfortable to the skin. The small zipper is often caught in the material. Maybe a fat zipper would fix that problem?

Worth it most definitely
I juSt love it I have used this both as a mummy Bag and as a down quilt and find it totally worth having . For snugpak standards it is alittle big in the stuff sack little bigger than there tents all packed up but it is totally worth it for the price and comfort you get out of it

Temperature rating
It's first snugpak product I am very disappointed with. I wish I was just another happy customer. I got this sleeping bag for summer and I took it yesterday to peak district. During the night was like 8 degrees and I was still cold. The worst part is bottom as it seems to have cold spots. I am not sure if my product is defected or its just how it is.

Just the piece of kit for kipping in the back of the truck, or somebodies wooden hut .
Good sturdy piece of kit, which is only to be expected from snug pack, another success!

Endlich ein Quilt/Deckenschlafsack/Blankett
NICHT in den Farben der 90er Jahre des letzten Jahrtausends. Warum muss Campingtextil immer schreien: "hier, look at me".
