The Karate Kid Part III [Blu-ray]

In my final review of the "Karate Kid 3" ..I have seen this movie on basic cable and television over the years. Except this movie when it aired had been butchered by local affiliates for tv. This movie is one that warm's my heart and ..it is one that everyone should absorb the true meaning of the story. Pride is a horrible trait/emotion that can cause you many problems down the road.. You've heard the saying "Swallow your P.R.I.D.E ..and it will make you a better person. "? Of course Daniel who is played by actor Ralph Macchio was born in 1961 and when he played the character Daniel he was nearly --..,. You do the math in 1989. That is a long story in Hollywood ..how to ruin your career when they have 20-something Men ..playing teenager's. Suddenly you are type cast and very few actor's can go beyond that ..life shattering role. Pat Morita earned an Academy award nomination for his Supporting role in the film. Not bad for a comedian .. His stunt double is legendary Japanese Master "Fumio Demura" who's still alive . Pat Johnson who played the ring referee taught Pat Morita ..the how's and what's of Karate'. Pat Johnson was trained by a Korean gentlemen the art of "Tang Soo Do".. in the 1960's when he was in the Army. After returning home and befriending another Master in NYC. He was encouraged to travel to LA ..by a guy who was opening karate schools. That man turned out to be an up and coming actor named Chuck Norris .. This movie has many life lesson's that many young boys and girl's can adhere to .. The follow up movie stars another young actress who later became a Hollywood Award winner 2x's. I have seen that one as well.. along time ago. To be honest this movie is Pat Morita's legacy ...he really shows great patience with Ralph Macchio's character when he removes the "Bonzai" tree and sneaks into his room for the mysterious powder that heals deep bruises to the limb's. Even if you don't have a MENTOR .. always remember this one last word ... "Self Discipline" ... Hai .. We miss you Pat ..!

Good Quality Digital Movie!

First things first, The KARATE KID part III on this REGION FREE German Blu Ray DOES INDEED play on the average USA Blu Ray Player. It immediately played in English, I didn't even have to switch the audio language. I have a pretty average $80 Sony 3D Blu Ray Player and this title played absolutely fine in it. I was worried that it wouldn't play since it was German manufactured but the description said it was "region free" so I decided to give it a shot... and I am glad that I did.As for the picture quality: Comparing it to the Sony DVD release that came out in the early 2000's, there is definitely an improvement in quality. The picture is sharper, the contrast is better, the colors are better (more natural), and overall it's a pretty decent looking title. I did notice that parts of it appeared a bit grainer than expected, but the grain is natural and likely looked exactly this way in the theater. In fact, it seems that the grain became less as we head into the second half of the movie. Comparing this PART III Blu Ray to the Sony KARATE KID PART II Blu Ray, I would have to say that the PART II disc does look a little bit cleaner, but not by a whole lot. I would rate PART III a 3.3 out of 5 in picture quality and Part II a 3.8 out of 5. Audio quality on both discs is very good. So overall, if you are looking to add the HIGH DEFINITION version of PART III to your collection, I would definitely say to grab this German "region free" import. It may be a tad pricey at $22.99 BUT it's an imported disc and when I ordered it you could also get it shipped free with Prime. For some reason PART III has not yet been released as a Region 1 USA disc, so this german region free disc is the way to get it for now.As for the movie itself, it may be the most "over the top" of the Macchio/Morita KARATE KID movies, but the story is fun and much more like the original movie than PART II which had less action. Some of the extreme laughing by the villains is hilarious and a few of the karate moves (in some scenes) needed a little more power to them, but the relationship between Miyagi and Daniel is still engaging and fun to watch blossom. I prefer this one to PART II because it's more fun.

My boy is 10 now and he has now asked to watch this movie several times. It is a classic.

Out of all the Karate Kid movies I’ve purchased on Blu-Ray. This is the one I’ve been hoping to get the most. I’ve always liked the third one, I understand why people hate it, but I’ve always liked it.Since this was shipped by Amazon Digital Services, I can only assume that Amazon themselves converted this to Blu-Ray quality. The quality is superb, but there’s a lack of a main menu. The pop-up menu shows Subtitles and Previews to all three Karate Kid movies. So with no menu, your disc will start the movie automatically. Still, not angry, because I was willing to pay $24 dollars to get this separately if it meant I would not have to get “The Next Karate Kid”. No one wants that film.The box is also thicker than the other Blu-Ray’s I have, and it has “Blu-Ray Disc” wording engraved on the top. Along with the words “Choice Collection”. Karate Kid Part III always had the best movie poster out of the movies. And they capitalized on this by making the cover the actual poster, and it looks beautiful. This will play on your PS4 as it works on mine. Be aware, once you finish the movie on your PS4, it will load and lead you back to your consoles home screen. I’m not sure what it does for regular Blu-Ray players though.My only complaint is that the wait for it to ship felt like forever, since I was waiting for this film the most, but I guess Amazon had to convert it right? Still a great movie and an excellent edition to my collection.

This was a great end to a wonderful set of wholesome movies

Endlich ist er da. Der dritte Teil der Karate Kid-Reihe mit Ralph Macchio und "Pat" Morita in ihren wohl berühmtesten Rollen. Als Kind durfte ich in den 80er Jahren den Film nie ansehen. Wahrscheinlich weil meine Eltern Angst hatten ich könnte Karate lernen wollen. :-) Als aber der erste Film irgendwann mal im Free-TV lief, sah ich ihn mir an und war davon sofort begeistert. Dann folgte der zweite Film, der mich noch mal begeisterte. Immer, wenn die Filme im Fernsehen liefen konnte ich mich dabei richtig entspannen. Ich weiß nicht woran es liegt, aber es gibt immer wieder Momente in den Filmen, wo Emotionen erzeugt werden. Etwa, wenn Mr. Miyagi von seiner Jugend im ersten Film erzählt, wie er seine Frau und sein Kind verloren hat, das geht mir auch heute teilweise ans Herz. Richtig großartig gespielt. Super finde ich auch, das die Helden nicht so als unbesiegbar, sondern als menschlich und nicht gefühlskalt dargestellt werden. Es ist keine Kampfsportfilmreihe, sondern eher Jugendfilme. Ein Lebensgefühl. Die Zeichentrick-Serie fand ich auch sehr cool. Wäre schön, wenn die auch irgendwann auf Blu-ray oder DVD käme.Der dritte Film bildet den Abschluss der Reihe mit Daniel Laruso und Mr. Miyagi und das mit bravour. Mag sein, das die Bösewichte hier etwas überzeichnet dargestellt wurden, aber das wurde bestimmt bewusst so gemacht. Dafür spielen sie ihre Rollen auch richtig gut. Der Karate-Meister von Cobra Kai hat hier nicht mehr die Stimme von Manfred Lehmann, sondern von Ronald Nitschke. Was nicht schlimm ist, er passt auch perfekt zu dem Schauspieler. Die Handlung gefällt mir auch sehr gut. Auch die Bildqualität der Blu-ray ist sehr gut. Lange habe ich nach dem dritten Film gesucht und endlich habe ich ihn gefunden. Das einzigst gute am Remake der Filmreihe ist, das die Klassiker, die wahren Karate Kid-Filme endlich auch bei uns auf DVD und Blu-ray erschienen waren.Fazit: Die ersten beiden Filme hatte ich damals auf DVD gekauft, den dritten und The Next Karate Kid habe ich aber vergeblich gesucht. Und nun kann ich die Sammlung endlich vervollständigen und ich werde mir die Filme mit ganz großer Sicherheit sehr oft ansehen. Denn die Filme machen großen spaß und jeder, der sie noch gar kennt sollte dies unbedingt nachholen.

Da ich kürzlich die ersten Folgen der fantastischen und lustigen Serie Cobra Kai gesehen habe, in der die alten Rivalen Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) und Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) nach 30 Jahren wieder aufeinandertreffen, habe ich mir sozusagen zur Auffrischung auch wieder die alten Karate-Kid-Filme angeschaut, die ich zuletzt als Kind gesehen habe. Teil 3 aus dem Jahr 1989 beginnt genau wie sein Vorgänger aus dem Jahr 1986: Mit einem minutenlangen Zusammenschnitt des ersten Teils und des Anfangs aus Teil 2 - denn die Handlung knüpft an den ersten Teil an, die Handlung des zweiten und meiner Meinung nach schlechtesten Teils spielt hier keine Rolle.Darum geht's: Der alte Cobra-Kai-Karatelehrer John Kreese (Martin Kove) ist nach der All-Valley-Karatemeisterschaft, bei dem Daniel LaRusso Kreeses Schützling Johnny Lawrence besiegt hat, mehr oder weniger am Ende. Der Zulauf bleibt in seinem Dōjō aus, Kreese schiebt das alles auf Daniel und seinen Lehrer Kesuke Miyagi (Pat Morita). Hilfe bekommt er von seinem alten Kumpel Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), mit dem er früher im Vietnamkrieg gedient hat und der heute stinkreich ist. Auch Silver ist ein guter Karate-Kämpfer (natürlich) und entwickelt einen Plan, um es Daniel heimzuzahlen: Er hetzt ihm ein paar Schläger, darunter der Favorit der kommenden All-Valley-Karatemeisterschaft, Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), auf den Hals, die ihn zwingen sollen, wieder an der Meisterschaft teilzunehmen. Mr. Miyagi will Daniel dafür aber nicht trainieren, also nimmt Silver, der sich als hilfsbereiter Lehrer ausgibt, Daniel unter seine Fittiche. Sein eigentlicher Plan ist aber, Daniel schon beim Training Schmerzen zuzufügen und ihn natürlich beim Turnier am Ende verlieren zu lassen...Wie die Überschrift schon sagt, ist Karate Kid 3, der übrigens mit Regisseur John G. Avildsen, Drehbuchautor Robert Mark Kamen und Produzent Jerry Weintraub das gleiche Macher-Team wie die Vorgänger hat, nicht viel mehr als ein Abklatsch des ersten Teils. Wirklich, die Handlung ist mindestens zu 50 Prozent die gleiche - das zeigt sich vor allem beim Finale, das exakt nach dem gleichen Schema wie das von Karate Kid 1 abläuft. Eine Lachnummer ist Bösewicht Terry Silver, dessen Hauptbeschäftigung es ist, schäbig zu grinsen - aber immerhin hat man Ralph Macchio mit Thomas Ian Griffith jemanden an die Seite gestellt, der genau so mies schauspielert wie er selbst. Ist ja auch mal was. Überhaupt ist die ganze Story reichlich bescheuert und cheesy, aber es waren halt die 80er - das zählt quasi als Entschuldigung. Karate Kid 3 hat dennoch einen ordentlichen Unterhaltungswert, man darf hier halt nix Oscarverdächtiges erwarten. Besser als Teil 2 ist das hier allemal, darum sind aus meiner Sicht drei Sterne drin. An der Blu-ray gibt's im technischen Bereich nix zu mäkeln, darum kann man sich das Teil ruhig ins Haus holen.

Whenever The Karate Kid 3 comes into conversation I think I am the only one who shouts and screams about how much I love it. I never realised it was disliked so naturally I thought to myself "Is it good still"? I doubted myself naturally so decided to put it to the test and buy it on Blu-Ray and settle this argument (in my head).Straight away I hit a bump in the road as there was no UK or US Blu Ray but not all lost, those mighty Italians have released it in HD and managed to snag a copy on Amazon for under £10 so I was all set, it arrived in very reasonable time also. The case, cover are very nice, sadly no extras but I wasn't expecting any so no disappointment's. I re-watched it and surprise surprise I loved it even more. Im such a huge fan of the Karate Kid saga and this is a great sequel to the first film and carries on nicely after the second. We have new characters thrown into the mix but putting them together with one big character from the first film Martin Kove (John Kreese).As Bare bones as the Blu-Ray is there is still a lot to be thankful for. The cover is the original art so theirs no hack job with new cover tainting the original and the picture quality is spot on. The usual grain is present and the quality is not completely flawless but more than good enough to add it to your collection. I doubt there will be an anniversary edition anytime soon so I recommend you buy this to complete the trilogy.
