Saxon Math, what can I say - it's the best program out there. We got the CD-Roms that went with this too - worth every penny!!Here is our method with the Saxon program:1. Work through the lesson, see video if there is a concept she doesn't understand2. Complete Lesson Practice and Mixed Practice, stoppiong to watch the video if there is a problem that stumps her3. Check her homework4. Watch the videos for any problems that she missed, highlight her errors, and rework the problems5. Take the tests when they come up.....And, with that "method" she is really scoring well on the tests - even better than that though, she is learning how to learn & teach herself!!

I waited way too long to buy this. I should have purchased this with my textbook. While, I love Algebra, working out the problems to show my son was taking way too long. The step by step guide saved so much time. The best part is, I get to use it 3 more times with my other children.

Saxon book is a great book for kids to work on the summer. My 12 year old is using the book now. The solutions manual helps him check answers and gives detailed steps for every problem. So when he does not understand a concept he gets to the solution manual. This way we do not have to break our minds with him to find a solution. He struggled in the beginning, for the first 50 lessons. Now he is in lesson 80, and is doing very well. He is thorough in many Algebra concepts and I could see his confidence being up in math. He will be taking Algebra in school next year and this will definitely give him a good start for the year.

This was exactly want I needed. The only downside was that it took forever to get here.

Saxon is a thorough, easy to use curriculum (we homeschool) that covers all the basics in many levels of math. The solutions manuals show answers to every problem. Lots of review built in so you can adapt lessons to how much you want or need by assigning all of the lesson or part of the lesson depending on the student's needs. For extra help look for DIVE CDs that present the introduction and practice problems for each chapter with an instructor. The CDs are not sold by Saxon but are wonderfully helpful!
