Waterloo Solitaire: An Original Bookgame

A game that you can take anywhere.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Waterloo Solitaire. It's a book style game that has a number of scenarios for both the French and British/Prussians. The book has the same map for each of the French side scenarios and then another for British/Prussian. You only need a couple of dice and a pencil to play the game. If this makes the game sound rather simplistic them you will find that actually a lot of tactical thinking is required, with each scenarios victory conditions becoming progressively more difficult. This game can be taken quite literally anywhere and if you photocopy one of the French and British maps and put them in a clear plastic pocket, you can use a wipe off marker pen to draw with, meaning you can play the game an infinite number of times.Highly recommended.

Great solitaire experience
This is a great solitaire experience with a ton of RNG. It's about 4 pages of basic rules and once you learn them, you can jump immediately into a game. Each playthrough is about 15 min. My only criticism is the book itself. I would have rather had less duplicate matches in return for laminated. Pages with a dry erase marker. I do not want to ruin the pages so I take pictures on an ipad and digitally ink the map.

This game is ingenious!
I am an avid solo boardgame player and heard about this from a friend. I decided to give it a shot - I had never played a game like it and wanted the experience. So glad that I did!PROS: - Play at your own pace - Strategies actually impact your successes/failures in a way that you feel responsible for your actions - The choices and "sub" choices for each action provide variety to planning - The page layout is easy to understand and helps maintain gameplay flowCONS: - None yet!Highly recommend this game to fans of history and/or strategy!

Great gaming on the go
I love this book game and it’s companion Bismarck from Worthington Publishing. I can pick it up and play a couple turns and put it back down again as my Dad duties come up. I can take it with me and play a game while waiting for my child at practice. It plays much like it’s board game counterparts but infinitely more portable and solitaire in format. It’s allowed me to indulge my gaming needs without interrupting my Dad duties. I couldn’t be happier and looking forward to the next book game from this company. Great fun!

Excellent solitaire game
Plays quickly, very engaging, and the presentation is top rate. Artwork and trivia on every page. You can easily play this in your lap without flipping any pages because the rules are very easy to remember, and most of what you need is on the game page. The introductory level is easy to beat but it's still a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the more challenging levels. In my opinion, this is a good value and I look forward to trying out the other book in this series (Bismarck), and hope for more bookgames from Worthington.
