An observatory is, simply, where we are if we are looking at the night sky. It can be visual observations or, given the right equipment can be a place for recording images of astronomical objects. Carolyn's book delves into the subject (astronomy and observatories) that ranges from early man to the present day ... and further. I have enjoyed reading this book and it makes me appreciate the observatories of this world today, what they stand for in the pursuit of knowledge. One learns something new every day and I am glad to have got this book to enhance that knowledge further. It is certainly a must-have for your book collection whether you are an astronomer or not.
