I'm in love with this drum! Not sure if we can call it a traditional Riq, and looks more of a fusion frame drum - but it works for various playing styles!I own multiple Riq drums and most have synthetic skins and extremely heavy, which is typical for these kind of drums due to the 10- pair heavy zills used. some have metal/aluminum body and metal tuning system which adds to the weight as well.These Schlagwerk RTRIQs have wooden body and natural goat skin head which projects pretty well and comes out pretty crisp and dry for the typical closed style finger-rolls.They have 5 jingle slots, which are adjustable/removable using the tool provided. This is a major plus as you can use any kind of zills with them. 4 of them are single pair slot and 5th one of a double pair for the zill-rolls. So these drums only have 6 pairs of zills instead of 10 pairs with traditional ones.Zills are not shiny or as heavy as the typical riqs but do have peculiar/nice tone to it.There are two notches for your thumbs for the two hand playing style, and is very comfortable to hold.Tuning is very easy and effective with the allen wrench tool provided.I wish they provided a protective bag with the drum for the high price. I bought a padded bag separately as this has become a prized possession for me!Thanks,Sree K
