This item is EXACTLY the same book as The World Encyclopedia of Stamps & Stamp Collecting by the same author EXCEPT this is a much larger format - both text & images & is a paperback as opposed to the hard cover of the "Encyclopedia'. This costs more than the 'Encyclopedia' but you may find it is worth it if you like a larger version.

This is a great overview of stamps. It has a prodigious amount of excellent photos. The country-by-country pages give a brief historical overview of the country or region, and has photos of some of the region's more significant stamps. This book is well-written, informative, and entertaining.

Bought as a gift for grandson who has started to collect stamps. He was very happy with this gift.

Excellent tool to help teach philately to all the new comers to the hobby.

Superb book (I borrowed it from SFPL, several times). Beautiful pics and geography&history info! 2005 ed. BUT this listing says Nov 1 2017! Is there a new edition coming?? (also, the prices in this listing seem confused: $3 used but $18 used is only choice to buy, at the moment)

I bought this as a non stamp collector as a gift. It seems to be comprehensive, covering the history of the postage stamp and even how to store and mount stamps in an album. It advises on starting a collection and is copiously illustrated. Hopefully it will be well received.

If you ever wondered why people collect stamps then this book is for you,amazing to learn how the postal service started and it's a hobby you can enjoy without costing a fortune the knowlege gained from learning about the subject's is a history lesson you will find uplifting
