Boyt HarnessKhaki Canvas Take-Down Case with Pocket

Superior quality and protection.
Bought this for my 28” Shotgun that I use primarily for skeet. I purchased the 30” Boyt Harness Case. I was planning on purchasing the 28” case but based on reviews went with the 30”. The barrrels fit nicely. There is about 2” of space so I would imagine that the 28” would have been a nice snug fit but I am happy with the 30” as it gives me flexibility to use it with other shotguns in the future and the 2” space is really not a hindrance in any way. The case has a nice snug fit so the added length is not a problem. The case is very well made. Despite what other reviews say the leather on mine is 100% genuine leather. The stitching is neat and and the zipper is a very heavy brass zipper. I did put some wax on it as another reviewer suggested and it slides beautifully. The inside is a mix of suede and quilted cotton the offers more protection then I thought it would. The exterior is a tough canvas.I am extremely happy with this purchase. I have always used “hard” cases I the past and had some reservations about a soft case. Any concerns I had are gone. Going to the range is easier and I love the look and feel of quality. I spend hard earned money on my shotguns and am proud to have them in a case that exudes quality and craftsmanship.

Fantastic takedown case for pump and semiauto shotguns
Shotguns can be very bulky and long and a pain to transport. Not only do they tend to be longer than most long guns, the barrels are also very large. Transporting shotguns even in tight fitting soft cases often becomes a game of how creatively you can come up with strange angles and positions to jam everything into your car's trunk so it fits.Fortunately, most shotguns take down roughly in half. Now if there was only a way to easily transport them that way...I looked a long time for a decent case that would allow me to transport my shotguns in take-down form. Almost all takedown shotgun cases cases are hard cases with storage cutouts specifically designed for over/under shotguns. They will not fit pump or semiautomatic shotguns as the receivers are much too long. The few hard cases which can accomodate a shotgun in takedown form are generic long gun cases with padded foam, and the shotgun barrel and receiver tend to slip and shift around under transport. Eventually you end up with the parts dinging against each other, resulting in damage. Plus the cases add a LOT of extra bulk to the firearm, negating most of the advantage of space saving from the shotgun taken down....enter the boyt harness take-down case to the rescue. This is an extremely well built, sturdy canvas case with leather carry strap and protective leather "foot" covering one end. There are two pockets -- one for the barrel and one for the stock+receiver. There's tons of padding everywhere inside including the internal separator between the barrel and receiver pockets, so you won't have to worry about your firearm getting dinged or scratched anywhere. The fit is snug but not overly tight, so there is little added bulk to the firearm. The snug fit also means there is virtually no sliding around. Not that that would be a problem anyway, since the padding is so good. There is also a nice storage pocket with velcro flap on the outside which you can use to store a few extra choke tubes, choke wrench, or other tools.Amazon lists three sizes for this case, unfortunately amazon lists NO details about what these sizes mean. Here is what amazon neglects to tell you: "small" is for 28" barrels. "medium" is for 30" barrels. "large" is for 34" barrels. For those of you with pump or semi shotguns, you will need to include the barrel extension length when considering the proper case size. For example a mossberg 930 28" barrel is actually 32". a browning bps 28" barrel is actually 30".

Quality Control issue - Poor/Sloppy Stitching
I have a 20 Year old full length OD green case that has seen every state from Texas to North Dakota - it’s been through it all and is still holding its’ own. So I got this take-down for a new gun. The carry strap finish was scratched pretty ugly, and the stitching is consistently poor and loose along the seams; certainly not the quality normally expected from Boyt Harness.Update: Just so you’ll know, it has been a month now since I first posted. I was kinda thinking representatives from Boyt might just happen to try to contact me to rectify my situation/purchase. No follow up from Boyt to date. Just so you’ll know...🤨

Tight fit for Browning Citori 725
Unfortunately I am not happy with this case, as my Browning citori 725 with 30” barrels did not properly fit in the case. The case is a bit tight and I am concerned that the zipper will mar my shotgun.I have other Boyt canvas gun cases that I am very happy with.

Nice padded gun case for take down pump shotgun
I was pleasantly surprised at how well this gun case was made for the price. The only thing I don’t like about it is the way they fed the leather shoulder strap through a center mounted D ring. The idea is to be able to carry it in your hand like a suitcase, or adjust the strap for a longer shoulder mount set up. It was impossible to pull the “pronged” end of the strap through the center D ring, so I ended up cutting that ring off with a Dremel tool and cut off wheel. Now it’s perfect.

Attractive alternative to hard-cases for two-piece guns
Interior padded flannel lining is gun-finish-friendly and the thick canvas & leather trim makes this sturdier that you would expect. The front pocket is enough for a pair of choke tubes and that's about it. The construction is adequate, but there are loose threads and a finicky zipper that frankly could be better.Overall, it does the job, but if I was going to purchase again, I think I would buy this from a traditional brick-&-mortar store so that I could inspect it for the sorts of damage I list above.

Great case for over unders—- I like the large one ...
Great case for over unders—- I like the large one as there is room inside for a case that holds extended choke tubes
