Intuitive Analog to Digital Control Loops in Switchers: Part 1 Paperback – October 27, 2015

I would have given this book a 5 star rating if not for the, uncalled for, ad hominem attack on another well recognized industry leader. This is supposed to be a technical reference, not a permanent record of personal dislikes. As Mr Maniktala alluded to, it is difficult to un-print a book. Thus I would advise him to settle his personal differences outside of print. The technical material is very useful if you are in the business, and concerned with control problems in power supply design.

I did not like that the book is peppered with statements insulting other authors. That is why it got two stars. It is a simple intro to control loops with a few good points that experienced engineers pick up along the way. Large print easy to read. This is not a how to book. It is a simple intro on the subject. If he goes to another printing, he should strip out the insults.

Not as well written or practical as the authors other books (A to Z) - looks to be put together hurriedly. I would recommend not purchasing the book. I am a practicing PM engineer. It would have been more effective for the author to include practical examples of integrated converter or controller designs of various topologies and showed how his techniques were applied to those design problems. Advice in this book without context doesn't work as well.

I design switching power supplies for a living and have read about 30 books on the topic, including Maniktala's excellent A-Z and "Optimization" books. This Maniktala book, however, is a deep dissapointment.Things you should know before buying this book:- It is a thin book with double-spaced text. A lot of white space and very little content. More like a long article than a book. I started reading it Monday night and finished it Tuesday.-It contains no new info that other books don't cover better.-Manikta's mean spirited comments about Ray Ridley are unwelcome and unprofessional.Friends, don't waste your money.

Der Druck des Buches ist bestimmt von schlecht aufgearbeiteten Grafiken. Teilweise kann man die Schaltbilder nur aus dem eigenem Verständnis heraus zusammensetzen. Teilweise sehen sie aus, als wenn man zu stark vergrößert hätte. Kann in einer digitalen Ausgabe evtl. besser sein, das Buch ist jedenfalls nicht so toll... Die Schriften und Zeilenabstände sind so gewählt, dass das Format wesentlich größer ist, als es eigentlich notwendig wäre.Vom Inhalt her mag ich prinzipiell die Art, wie der Autor schreibt. Aber es ist irgendwie jedes Thema nur angeschnitten. Wenig so richtig zu Ende gebracht. Es sind dafür eine große Menge Verweise ins Internet drin. In einer digitalisierten Version mag das gehen. Es wird aber anstrengend werden, die Links alle zu tippen. Wenn man das Werk in 10 Jahren noch mal in die Hand nimmt ist eh die Frage in wie weit man da noch alles findet...
