Great actionable way to start your personal brand
I particularly enjoyed this short, actionable book on starting my personal brand because it is relevant to people like me who have their own freelance business, and would also be relevant if you had a full-time job. A lot of what I've seen on personal branding doesn't mesh well with those situations so that makes this book a great resource for me. I read it in a couple hours and took down the notes on what I need to do to start my personal brand in a thoughtful and authentic way. Now I'm ready to get started. Thanks Mel!

Good topic if on the job hunt
This was one of the books I read before applying to and getting a job as a Professional Development Liaison at the University of California Berkeley. Up to then my experience was in lifeguarding, teaching, cleaning, geology, geophysics, and being a resident assistant. This and a few other books I read helped me start thinking about how the skills I have gained through my work experience are transferable to new positions and areas that I have not worked in before. I appreciated the brevity and breadth of this book, definitely a great short introduction to the topic of personal branding.

A great introduction to the topic of branding.
As an MBA student I have become more interested in the importance of my personal brand, but I have been overwhelmed with the sheer number of article, websites, and books available on the topic. On the recommendation of a friend on Facebook, I decided to give the book a try. I am glad I did. After an initial read I have started to outline a plan of action to create a virtual presence that will help to guide my future on-line, and off-line, professional goals. A single reading is not enough. My plan is to go back and take a minimum of 10 days to reread it; reading one section each day and reflecting how I can implement that section, and how I can develop ways to ensure that I am working to positively develop my brand.

Great way to find your true professional goals and passions
Great start to not only learning the basics of personal branding, but also to figuring out who I am professionally. This quick guide really has made me think and I am still working on the details of my own goals. This book really got me looking deep into myself. If you are willing to put in the work, I think this could be very useful to anyone! I just finished reading it and have just begun to put the work into action. As I learned from this book, you are never really done branding yourself. It is a constant and ongoing thing because as humans we are ever changing. Will update with my LinkedIn profile when I am done with my "homework" from this guide and you can be the judge! Thanks Mel!

Bursting with actionable tips & tricks
I met Mel Carson last year when he was speaking at Internet Summit. What stood out for me (aside from the bright red shoes) was how much of a champion he is. He knows his stuff, of course, but he's also able to communicate complex topics in a simple, digestible way that seems to cheer, "You can do it too!" That said, I expected a good read here... but WOW! This book blew me away. It was interesting, and jam-packed with knowledge and actionable steps to pump up your personal branding. This is by far the most-bookmarked book (per page-capita) on my kindle today. I've already set up a site, paid attention to image names, tweaked my LinkedIn profile, and more based on Mel's tips.

Inspirational.
This is a book that does exactly what you need it to do. Mel really speaks to you as he is so engaging in his use of language, which gives you the feeling that you can immediately and easily relate to the subject, even if personal branding is a new concept to you. The content is clear, honest and inspiring. The only thing that makes the book hard to finish is the fact that you want to get started and use all the practical information and tips that are found from start to finish. This is an author who understands his readers, saving them time with a concise, easy read that focuses on the need to know right now and tips that can be actioned as soon as you put the book down. A book that will split companies across the globe into two groups, those that have a copy and those that don't.

I actually read it...
Most books I buy on any type of personal development remain unopened or should that be unclicked in today's digital world. I downloaded this and read it, it's short and succinct, the take aways are easy and practical. I wrote myself an email while reading on changes to make to business cards and email signatures for the whole team. Amazing, I've already done something. Anyway I'm off to work on my personal profile and mission, but don't worry hopefully you'll be able to find me in a flash if you want to know how the rest of the journey goes.

A great starting point in creating your brand
Just bought this book to help me with my own brand and also to give me a better understanding of the subject to pass on to the young men/women I help through Centrica on the Movement To Work programme. It’s a subject I’m becoming really interested in and this book is a great starting point
