Cheaper than a brand new oven! Don't be afraid to try this!
The element came with Amazon's usual speed and we are thrilled with our new element! I would like to add that when you're replacing this part, a dishtowel to lay in the bottom of the oven (unless your oven is totally spotless) while you work, and a pair of clothespins or binder clips are helpful. These are to grab the two wires connected to the element before you disconnect the old one. Those wires are short and if you just pull the element out without some way of keeping them in place, they will spring back inside the oven and be very difficult to get (we had to pull the stove away from the wall and remove the back), making a five minute job into an hour-long one. Just pull gently on the old element, attach the clips, THEN disconnect it. Then the wires will be in the perfect position for you to plug in your new heating element. We are totally happy with our purchase- the oven works like new again and we are once more baking up a storm!

Element came mangled
1st image shows how it looked when it arrived.I had to use quite a bit of muscle to bend the element back into a usable shape.2nd image shows the element it replaced. It fit in the box just fine.No reason to mangle the element to get it to fit in the box. Probably like this before shipping?Maybe this was why it was much cheaper than the 'official one' from GE Hotpoint?Would have been easy to install except for this fact.
