Nice laser cutting... but 'universal fit' == bad alignment for all common jack styles!
Per everyone else... a decent idea, but very poorly executed. If you knock out the appropriate (nicely laser-cut) inserts intended for a Neutrik D-series connector, the connector's screw/rivet holes will not line up at all well with the holes in the panel. Yes, you may be able to jam a pair of screws into the misaligned holes in some cock-eyed fashion, but the whole point of a panel like this is neatness and ease of assembly. This provides neither.I have some Switchcraft jacks with a diagonal hole format, pretty similar to D-style. I checked those... they don't line up either.OK, so I have some "D-ish" diagonal-format jacks from an old Whirlwind snake on hand. Same deal... total misalignment.Moving on to the "up-and-down" two-hole format, the situation is slightly better, but the screw alignment is still not very good (as in, unusable for me) for the jacks of that style (also from Swichcraft) that I happen to have on hand.So I am 0-for-4 in trying to put an actual jack from a major manufacturer into this "universal fit" panel. There are many, many pre-punched panels for sale on Amazon that work, I've bought tons of them, and every one that has been sold as D-series compatible has worked perfectly. If you need 16-holes in 1U, at least two other vendors (ProCraft and Elite Core) sell them. Although not 'universal', they actually fit d-series jacks. They're both off-brands, and neither are currently available via Prime. I'm certain that the ProCraft panels actually fit D-series connectors, because I have been in contact with at least one shop that sells them with your choice of D-series connectors already riveted in place.I find it surprising that Gator, who really ought to know better, would market a product that is this screwed up; it is hardly rocket science to make a few holes to line up with a well-known standard. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere.

I recommend, but be aware that it's not perfect
This has much going for it. Laser-cut (not stamped) knockouts come out easily without leaving burrs and leave a nice clean look around the unused ones. The edges are rolled (or braked, or whatever is the term) a good 1/4-inch, so there is a lot of strength to keep it stable when you insert or remove connectors. 16 positions gives you a lot of options for your project. It's also a good value compared to similar products. There were a couple of issues. The finish was all scuffed and scratched from the retail packaging which should have protected from that very thing (all units will likely have this) but whatever, not worth docking a star. The pattern is NOT centered to the panel, like shown in their technical drawing. Look closely at the product photo (as of today's review date) and this is how it is. I was still able to use it with my combo jacks Neutrik USB and power connectors, but be aware, if looks are everything to you. Lastly, and mentioned by others, they completely missed on the hole/slot spacing! You can still make it work, but you are going to mess around with starting screws at an angle, or ending up with your connectors slightly rotated (like mine) by the time you get them mounted and tightened. The positives that I mentioned first have greater weight than the negatives to me, but I have to dock one star anyway. I attached a photo of my application, as a custom patch-panel for my portable recording rig.

Gator. What the heck?
The good news is the price. It's pretty substantial steel, somewhat malleable yet sturdy. Ideal for this kind of thing. The bad news is that the knockouts for the mounting screws are in the wrong place. I've bunches and bunches of XLR and 1/4" panel mount jacks from all sorts of different manufacturers. Tried 'em all and none of them fit. The screw slots are just plain in the wrong place. I really expected better from Gator. Gonna have to spend hours filing all those slots out, pretty much insuring a sloppy fit. I'd much rather spend my time wiring this up which I'll have to do eventually anyway. End result is I've had this thing around a while and it's still just sitting there on my workbench. I've got better things to do.Outside of that this is a pretty slick unit. Gator! PLEASE TAKE NOTE.

Makes all your knockoff gear sound like the real thing!
I'm obviously joking. It's a rack vent. What could you possibly learn from a review? It's is, in fact, 19" and slotted. If you need to put space in your rack so equipment doesn't get too hot and you're worried about stuff falling/being shoved into the space or just OCD about seeing that empty space and need to put a vent in to prevent yourself from sticking another compressor in that slot, then buy it. Well, buy it if you like the look. They're all the same thing. Just different designs for the holes. I bought this because, if I didn't, I'd end up blowing money on thr Avalon vent just so the colors and logos match with the VT737sp that's in that rack. I have other vents. They're all the same thing, just different looks.

Not as strong as I was expected
I did thought it would be strong & thickBUTIt is thinner & not as strong as expectedWe cannot put much pressure on the middle section as it will puch inside or behind easily.I have it installed below a 19" mixer and when I rest my hand on it to use the crossfader on the mixer, I can feel the plate going down about ΒΌ" and I do not put much pressure on the plate.Still it does fill the space I wanted to, but I was expecting much higher quality or stronger or thicker plate than that.WindGhost

Dissapointed
There were paint flakes chipped out of the front panel, and I didn't expect the punched knockouts to be as offset and close together as they were. If you're looking to use Neutrik D Panel gaskets with this you're out of luck, unless you only use half the punched knockouts. I only needed 12 hole panels, and these were all I could find from any Canadian distributors. In the end, I ordered GLS Audio 12 hole punched panels from Amazon.com, because it was worth the extra exchange rate, duty, and shipping to get exactly what I wanted.
