Q: Does this mat allow water to soak through to the floor?

You had better keep this bath mat's underneath dry. In order to make this bathroom rug anti slip feature working well, you should place this bath rug on the FLAT,DRY and CLEAN floor surface.

Q: Does it shed at all and how does it hold up after washing?

It does not shed and holds up beautifully after washing and drying in the dryer. The only downside to this rug is that it takes forever to dry. I have a frontloading washing machine. I washed it on the quick cycle and then had to dry it for three cycles on the bulky setting which is 71 minutes each cycle. I still recommend the rug it is anvery nice quality and looks brand new after going thru both washing and drying in the washing machine and dryer.
