Good Bongos - real skin heads
I purchased these bongos for use by a small child. I had seen a set at Toys R Us for a higher price. When I looked at the Toys R Us bongos I noticed that the head was made of cardboard. Yup, Cardboard. Now how long do you think that would last in the hands of a child. So I went looking for a real set of bongo drums and found these. It's been a week now. Everyone in the extended family has played with them. They are well made. They have real skin drumheads. They are tunable if you so desire. These are real drums for a price cheaper than the cardboard stuff Toys R Us is pushing.I can recommend this highly.

Great for beginning bong-ists
quality starter bongos for the family. Teaching the kids rhythm and just jamming out. A little splintery on the interior and the wingnuts were a little loose. But nothing prohibitive.

Below Expectations
The bongos were dirty. The skins were dirty and scratched. Will not be ordering from Gammon again or recommending to friends and family.

Lovely bongos
Absolutely love these bongos! Nice sound and they feel very sturdy. They do NOT feel flimsy or like a toy. It has a very nice sound as well.

Excellent value for the beginning bongo player
I wanted to learn bongos but I didn't want to spend much money on my first set. I wanted a natural skin, tunable bongo at a good price. These fit the bill perfectly.I have since learned a few things.First, the skins were very dry. When I tuned the bongos the first time, the chrome rim deformed. It was hard to achieve the high pitch I wanted. I believe it was because the skins were too dry and inflexible. I applied 100% pure lanolin (also found on Amazon) to the tops and bottoms of the skins and put them in the warm sun for a few hours to absorb it.The tuning became much easier with conditioned heads and I was able to reach the pleasing high "bop" I seek.I think the tuning rim hardware would be better engineered with a second hoop on the bottom instead of attaching it to the side of the drum like a conga. The more expensive bongos are engineered this way.Overall, these bongos are a great value. Recommended

Great Value
Center piece was loose. Quick tighten and I was on my way. Little tuning needed. Good sound. Like the heads on it. Great value. Packed well. Arrived on time.
