When I saw that my package was from China, I was a bit skeptical. Added to that, it was shipped the entire way in a thin plastic envelope with absolutely no padding and I expected that it would be broken, but to my surprise the dolls were completely intact. They look exactly as pictured, and are beautiful for a mass-produced product. I was also impressed with the machining of the wood. The dolls fit together perfectly, and that is no small feat considering they are working with wood. There are so many dolls, and I was surprised when they kept getting smaller and smaller. There was a slight odor of fresh paint when I opened them up, but I simply let them all sit out for a few days and they were perfectly fine. Great set for the price. My niece loved them.I would recommend that the manufacturer invest in bubble lined packages.

Product arrived from China. Packaging was almost completely smashed, as it was a very thin cardboard box and only had 4 small inflatable bubbles in it which barely filled 1 corner of the empty space in the box. For what I paid in shipping I would have expected better packaging. Honestly, I'm surprised the doll arrived in one piece.Also the doll has glitter all over it, which comes off when handling. Very disappointed about that as it was not in the picture and it quite messy when handling. If you don't mind the glitter, this would be OK as a child's toy or trinket. The wood is very light weight and is not of the heavy quality with high quality paint I've seen from Russian products at craft fairs.

I ordered this nesting doll set as a gift for my 8 year old niece. I WANTED to order her one that was MADE in RUSSIA/USSR/RUSSIAN FEDERATION, because I feel they are really the only LEGIT sets. When I saw, scrolling way down in the product details, that the ORIGIN was "RUSSIAN FEDERATION" I thought it was fine. in actuality, the product was MADE IN and CAME FROM CHINA!!!! not at all what I wanted. I am extremely disappointed that this was represented as being from the Russian Federation. nowhere on the page did it say that it was made in China nor shipped from China. The page says "sold by and shipped by LTGiant. When I clicked the link for LTGiant, I found nowhere on THAT page that said WHERE LTGIANT is located. That's so uncool. Hiding the origin, the country of sale, the country of shipping.... really???that being said, the color is exactly as pictured - a lovely bright pink. The pieces are all in perfect condition, despite rather shoddy packaging. It arrived in a plastic ENVELOPE with a single "pocket" of bubble wrap. The actual doll set is in a pretty clear cellophane bag with pink dots on it that a young girl would be pleased with.I am disappointed in the actual finishing of the set. Most nesting dolls sets are glazed or varnished after being painted, giving them a glossy finish, which is also easier to clean/dust. This is matte finish and feels a little rough. Most of the dolls in the set are reasonable looking - they're painted with nice faces and details and are a nice shape. The littlest in the set is much flatter than in the picture - kinda looks squashed and odd.

Having recently found out our family has Russian heritage, thought this would be a cute gift for nieces, grandchildren along with a "time line" which I typed showing the lineage for the heritage. While they are lightweight wood and can break or chip easily, they were not meant for a toy...just a "collectible" to keep for their "collections" ... I have since ordered a boy version of these nesting dolls for my grandson and will use it as a little Christmas gift along with his lineage...Cute keepsakes.

These nesting dolls are beautifully done. The 10th one is so very tiny. My granddaughers loved them (I bought another set in blue). Paired them with books: Sasha's Matroiska Dolls by Jana Dillon, The Littlest Matryoshka by Corinne DeMas and Baba Yaga and Vasilisa the Brave by Mariana Mayer (with great illustrations by Kinuko Craft).These dolls do not have a finished coat, so you can't wipe them off and they are susceptible to finger marks. Wood is also quite thin, so they are able to break if dropped. Not for the very very young. I would say 10 years or older.

we recieved them in a timely manner however the old addage "You get what you pay for." applies here. My daughter used her birthday money to purchase them and some of the pieces are difficult to open and close due to them being painted natural wood. The paint is sloppy, full of lines and grooves as if a child did the larger parts and the paint isnt sealed, making it rough to the touch. She still likes them and wont let me return them but as an adult, i would not recommend these dolls to anyone. Spend a few more dollars and get better quality ;)

My two and a half year old daughter LOVES these nesting dolls. They are beautifully painted and fit together perfectly. The one thing that might be worth considering if you're buying these for a kid is that the little ones are really, really little, so your kid has to have some pretty good fine motor skills to put the tiny ones together. They would definitely not be appropriate for a kid who might still put stuff in her mouth. Overall, I think they're a fantastic product.

We are thrilled with our set. After reading some of the review, my expectations were very low. When they arrive, I was surprised to find that in our case, the quality of the product far exceed the cost. Also, These dolls are used as a quiet time toy for a just turned 3 year old, and they are far more durable than I ever expected.These are not the same quality as an EXTREMELY high quality collectors nesting doll from Russia, however, the price is not the $80 and up a traditional collectors set costs either. These came from China. But again, the quality I received FAR FAR out weighs the small cost of this set. The painting was well done, the dolls all fit together properly, coloring was all in the correct places, and most of all the child LOVES them....priceless.

One does get what one pays for.... these are cute, not gorgeous, but since they are intended as a gift for my 5 year old granddaughter, they are fine. Do not expect nicely varnished pieces, these are rough paint. Do not expect elaborate designs, these are basic. They do fit well together, that is a plus, there are ten of them, and they are pretty. HOWEVER, they are shipped in a very thin piece of foam taped just enough to secure them. As a result, there were a couple of minor dents and blemishes on the outer doll. If you want to display them as high quality, forget it; if you are looking for something neat for a child, they are perfect.

today I received the package....in were 7 pieces in good shape the 8th one is missing its body the 9th and the 10th are tiny pieces of small colored wood no shape no body and no upper part they will go in the garbage....VERY DISAPPOINTED.....I bought it for a gift and sadly it is not complete...what is funny you count the pieces are 10 but 3 are scrap.... and so the family is shrinking!.....haha:).....Hope they will do something!

Order this set as a christmas gift. Item did not arrive untill late May. My daughter liked this set but the wood cracked very easily. Was broken with in a month or two.

I was looking forward to getting these very much. When they arrived and I opened them I was disappointed to find that some of them were tough to open and close. On another the inside of one was chipped where the wood was thinned a bit too much and the painting job, while a beautiful design, was inconsistent from doll to doll. Overall I'm less than happy with these dolls. I even tried sanding the inside a bit myself to see if it would improve the closing, opening of them.

Phenomenal! These are very big and beautifully painted.
