BaoFeng UV-5R High Power Portable Two-Way Radio 3800mAh Battery

Able to operate well on 2m and 70cm, good little thing to carry around, battery life is really good aswell.

So this is apparently the standard go to radio. However my radio I am unable to program some settings on chirp like the welcome message and few others.I get it I know it's cheap and it's my first radio and it's petty but it's a function it should do but cannot. Older versions can just not my one. I still haven't been able to get any voice through it just static but thst might just be my location although it is programmed for the nearest repeater.

These are not badly made and are good value for money, though can be found cheaper elsewhere. They come pre programmed with a selection of frequencies which you will need to redo for Ham use UK, or PMR. Best place for how to use can be found on YouTube.

Great radio and would have got 5 stars except for the fact the antenna is completely useless. It's well built and the battery is excellent. On standby the battery lasts for days. Good all round performance, just a pity about the antenna. Otherwise this radio lives up to it's reputation. Latest! I have now bought a Tengko RH 660s antenna to go with it, from amazon. you wont find a better antenna for this radio. I have uprated this radio to five stars with the tengko.
