As wonderful as it would be if the weather in the mountains was always fair, serious hikers know that’s not always the case. That’s why Rab made the Downpour Plus 2.0 Jacket. Constructed from lightweight, breathable, and recycled Pertex Shield 2.5 Layer waterproof fabric, this packable piece offers ample coverage when skies turn gray. The regular fit wears easily over t-shirts and midlayers alike, while the articulated sleeves mean you can scramble to the summit unrestricted.

Simply brilliant
As I have other Rab products I knew I was buying a quality product. Other brands are average but Rab attention to detail for me is what I want. Would recommend 👌

Great shell jacket
Packs really small. Great fit with practical pockets, vents and hood.Seems to be hardwearing and still looks as new.It doesn't bead/shed water as well as I would expect and tends to feel cold and wet if it's against your skin, but it never seems to let water through and performs really well considering it's such a thin shell.Pit and front zips are a little snaggy, but I guess that's to be expected on waterproof zipsAlso in black is smart enough to wear as an office/work coat.

Not gortex
Coat seems to be fine well made as most rab products are but it's not gortex should be fine for general use but the big test is when I'm in the lake district later this year. Bit wrong by amazon to advertise as something it is not.

Barely waterproof. Not suitable for hiking.
Build quality wise, I really liked this jacket. It doesnt feel premium, but it's nicely put together. The problem lies with practically - a waterproof jacket that isn't waterproof (to technical outdoors standards). A brief 20 minutes in light rain on my morning commute has the main body almost wet through. Water never beaded off, even brand new, it just soaks into the fabric. The end of sleeves where water runs down always leaks first, and shoulders too where any backpack straps are putting pressure on the membrane. Not even suitable for a short walk to work, absolutely ridiculous to present this as a jacket intended for the outdoors. I'll be sticking to Montane or Mountain Equipment next time.

Well Made, Well Fitting, and Quite Waterproof
Loved the color and the fit - I'm fairly slim, and most jackets for Americans are baggy on me, but not this one. Took it out in a Florida storm, and it did very well. However, it does not breath very well, and the zipper - while sturdy - is British and the reverse of what we have here in the US. Not a big issue, but takes some getting used to.

Nicht regendicht!
Beim ersten Einsatz im Regen hat die Jacke nach 20 Minuten Wasser durchgelassen. Als Regenjacke ist sie nicht zu gebrauchen.

Soaks up water
The jacket doesn't properly repel water. The water doesn't come right through, but it soaks into the outer layer.
