WORKS GREAT, not easiest to use, I love it!!!
Bought this for my 2003 e39 530i. My Innova wasn't clearing my transmission code. Very happy to use this, worth the trouble of installing (and reading the instructions!)Took me a while to get it installed and working with my laptop that is on win7. After that needed to be careful using the software for the first time. Had to dig in a little from the start of the INPA program to get to my model. Cleared my transmission code, no problem.Great cable and software, just not as easy to use as a stand along scan tool. MUCH cheaper than a professional scan tool that can let you get as deep into the cars system as this! I recommend to BMW enthusiasts.

Works great for E46. No jumper needed.
Worked as it should for E46. Was able to access engine and chassis modules in INPA. Did not need to jump any terminals, like some other cables require. The cable appears to have low build quality. I wouldn't expect this cable to hold up to frequent/shop use. Still giving it 5 stars as it arrived quick and saved me from hunting to find a working cable or going to the dealership.I previously owned another cable that is out of stock. Decided to take a chance on this one. Due to this, I can't speak to any driver installation, etc as when I plugged it in, it appeared to use the existing drivers. Only suggestion I can make is if you are in a similar situation and are having trouble getting connection to the vehicle, check in the Device Manager that the cable is on COM1 port. If it isn't you'll need to go in to Advanced settings and change it to COM1.Adding because I know there can be inconsistencies in which product is received when it comes to these cables: Received blue colored cable with blue colored adapter. Just as pictured in the product description.

2000 E39 ABS Trifecta
I purchased this to diagnose the ABS DSC trifecta and it arrived a day early which was a good omen. One problem I had was lack of a DVD drive on any of my laptops but I downloaded software mentioned in one of the reviews and it was an easy install. I first installed it on Win 10 and it registered as a true FDTI, however it wouldn't connect. After reading some posts, I installed a Win XP VM and tried that... still no connect.Time to READ THE MANUAL!!Setting the COM port to COM1 in advanced settings fixed it and INPA was able to communicate with the Engine and Chassis modules with the 16 pin "Pacman" adapter and allowed me to see real time analog wheel sensor speeds. Based on other reviews, Win 10 would have worked for me if I had set the com port to COM1.I also bought a 10 foot USB extension to allow me to run from the engine to the cab to watch the diagnostics while in motion and it works great!

Works great but needed some modification.
People that's are having problems with this cable you NEED to solder the pins 7 and 8 together for use with older models. This would only read codes from the dme when I first got it.

Works with E38 and INPA
Used it with INPA & NCS Expert on an E38, package includes a link to latest software what is a nice touch. Everything installed easily on Windows 10 64, including the drivers for the cable. INPA is probably not the best for older cars, but provides some info what BMW Scanner doesnt, you need a different cable for INPA & BMW Scanner, I have tried but strangely they dont work with the same.

Software doesn’t work
The cable works just fine. But the software didn’t work at all. I had to download INPA from somewhere else
