You Don't Have to be a Handyman...
The handle that was on the screen door when I purchased my home was a sad little thing. It latched enthusiastically, but it didn't lock worth a darn. Don't get me wrong, it tried, but if a visitor was determined to knock instead of ringing my doorbell, the handle put up zero resistance, bless its heart. So there I was, surfing the interwebs for a better solution. It didn't take long to find this universal option. It had decent reviews and I liked the style and finish. (I'm a sucker for oil rubbed bronze.) Seemed like a perfect fit. It arrived quickly, thanks to Prime, and a few days later I found the courage to attempt the install. I'm no handyman, truth be told. Just a single gal who attempts projects and lucks into enough success to keep on trying. It took a short while for me to figure out how to install everything, but it really wasn't very complicated in the end. As you'll see from a few other reviews posted here on Amazon, there can be an issue with the strike spindle-pin if you have a thinner (1") door. I had this same challenge. I fixed it by marking the pin at the length the directions suggested, then clamping it to a saw horse and taking my hacksaw to it. Only took a few minutes to get it to the right length. Smoothed it down by scratching it on the concrete garage floor and PRESTO!-- it was ready.(I am woman, hear me roar! "Mew!")Anyhow, since the old handle's holes were basically where the template for this new handle's were, I only had to add the small starter hole for the bottom screw on the template. I made small adjustments to the existing holes, since they were a tad crooked, but over-all, things went pretty smoothly. Or at least, it wasn't overly-stressful and I managed to end up with a functional handle. The small packet of screws/shims/etc... contained everything I needed to finish the job once I had modified the strike spindle-pin.This handle's lock is so much better than the prior one was!! I'm a very happy girl. Even though my neighborhood is a safe, family-oriented place, I still like the feeling that I'm a bit more secure in my little nest. If you can handle potential small modifications and are able to follow basic directions, this could be the handle for you!It will definitely help to own (or know someone who has): phillips screwdriver, drill for creating/adjusting holes, and possibly a hacksaw.I've only just installed it, so I can't comment on longevity, but the handle has a bit of heft to it, and feels like it could last quite some time. If, for any reason, there is a problem, I will update this review. Otherwise, assume my screen door is living happily ever after!

Does NOT fit 1" doors !!!
Black handle, no lock. The item description states this works with 1" doors. NO, IT DOES NOT. Unfortunately I did not see the reviews that said so before I purchased it. Now I see that other reviewers have stated that the pins provided that connect the outside handle to the inside latch are all too long to work with a 1" door. Even the shortest pin is at least probably 1/2" too long. The pin from my old handle is a totally different shape and will not work. This handle is now useless to me. I didn't try to install this until a couple months after the return period was over and therefore had to spend 45 minutes on the phone with Amazon, speaking to a cust. service rep and then having to get a supervisor involved, just to get a lousy $15 refund. Combine that with half an hour spent trying to install the stupid thing and figure out why it wasn't working, then reinstalling my old set. What a waste of my time.

Needs improvements...
Purchased for our storm door in the front of our house. Installation could have been made a lot easier, here are the cons:1) The metal piece in between both parts that turns the lock; manual says that you "snap" it to the length that you need, but it was not easily resized even though it had been scored. I ended up using a grinder.2) Another improvement would be the length of the deadbolt. It's rather short, so it limits how far you can place both the doorknob and the lock. You will have to install this lock very close to the frame of the door in order for it to lock.3) All screws (various lengths included with packaging) were too long for the doorknob. Which is odd since the set is meant for storm doors; I have a typical Larson brand storm door, nothing special. I ended up using screws I have.Pros:1) Drill templates.2) Attractive.3) Cost.Would recommend, but the installation could be so much easier.

Nothing Ideal About It
Replaced an identical handle due to jamb catch failure. The catch is flimsy plastic, should be metal. This set comes with five actuator pins of different lengths, not one short enough to accommodate a one inch storm door. The shortest pin in the package I received is for a storm door of 1 1/4" thickness. If it were not for saved parts, this replacement "Pull Handle Set" would be useless, and returned. This experience has me wondering about the believability factor of amazon.com reviews/ratings.

Latch Problem
Do not buy this if your not handy. You need a perfect situation for the distance of side of door jamb where you install the strike to where it can hook to the latch when the door is shut.2 shims are supplied for the strike but may not be enough to extend it to reach the latch . Some storm doors have have their own aluminum or metal frame where the storm door locks against the inside stop around the storm frame and makes it very difficult to align the strike in horizontal and vertical position. The second problem is the locking latch tab that locks with the strike is curved?? which makes the mechanism useless unless the latch is touching the strike. If the strike is not very very close to the latch the door will not latch or the door will be loosely locked.

Storm Door Saver
I finally found a replacement handle that worked for our 30 year old storm door that looks great, but original door handles were falling apart. Could not find a replacement handle set at the big box stores that would work on my storm door. It got to the point as I was going to buy a new storm door just so the handles work. Pros-Saved me big bucks on replacing storm door-looks pretty nice( we are going bronze accents for the front door area.)- good price for the product. Cons- took four hands to get the install going at first-mechanism feels a little cheap in function. Overall I would buy again

highly recommend
we installed a storm door 2 years ago and teh handle broke, this one seems to be an identical match ( slight colour difference) and took me about 10 minutes to install. It works perfectly, quality is at least the same as the original. Also door installer quoted me 3 times the cost of this to replace and install and i had to wait 3 weeks, so i bought this and installed in a day for 1/3 the price. Well worth it, if this fits your door.

Great price, great colour options, quick shipping, quality item.
Ideal Security Storm door handles. We purchased the black units, as the local big box retailers only stocked the antique bronze type. They are well worth the xtra $$. The bonus was they were cheaper online too!. Nice weight, fit and finish. Easy to install and the kit comes with multiple lengths of hardware and push rods for various door thicknesses. You can install without the backing plate if your not replacing an handle with the lower fourth hole. Gorgeous units. We repainted the our storm doors and these handles were the crowning jewel. The doors even close better and have a solid "clunk" when closed.

Customer Service
I ordered 2 of these handles and 1 broke. I contacted Amazon and they were not very helpful just telling me to contact the manufacture and when I asked for the email they gave me the wrong one. I finally got hold of the manufacture today and they responded apologizing and told me to order a new one NC/CBTW they responded within 5 minutes!! Now that is amazing customer service!!!

Lots of pieces to make the installation work.
We needed a new handle on the inside of the screen door. The piece was ordered didn’t work so we ordered the full handle. It worked great, like a new door.
