Nice, standard globe
There are two major things about this globe, and globes in particular:1) Decorative. It looks great. The fact that it has an internal bulb that lights it from within is icing on the cake.2) A world globe is a necessity to understand maps. A child needs to see a globe early on, and then mercator projections, conic projections, and the rest can all make sense. If a child works only with the common mercator projection, he/she can never understand why Greenland looks huge while equatorial countries look tiny. The visceral reality that the earth is spherical can only be experienced with a globe. In this age of "screens" for kids, the globe is a hands-on tool that has tactile appeal. It's also very interactive.... Examine the globe together with your child. Then play a game: You pick a country, river, or other feature after browsing the globe....then ask the other player to find it. If it's hard, give hints. Let the other player ask questions, to zero in on the chosen place name of feature name. Then take turns...soon you may find your child stumping YOU.Do this with your child for several hours and not only will you have fun, you will cultivate a globally aware child! This is an inexpensive globe, but nicely constructed. I think that we get more than our money's worth with this one.Whichever globe you buy, I recommend at least 12" diameter globe. The smaller ones simply don't have space for all the features on our planet.

Globe of the world
This globe is very well designed. It has points of interest marked really good. I would highly recommend it.

A nice globe but….
This was sold from the US to New Zealand. We have different power so i cannot use the illuminated version without having to change the bulb for NZ grid and the power adapter. A little nuisance but ok.I believe the printing could have been a little more accurate/sharp. I wish this was a little more classy as i have it placed at hand (living) area for my kids to play, look, browse and as a geographical frame of reference for us/them. It does the job and they use it, come to it and wonder where countries lie. So for that, i would have invested in something that makes a feature of the room. Maybe. Just a thought.I also don’t like the equator. I find it cheaply done, disturbing and unnecessary. But they all seem to have it.

Excellent educational and decorative globe!
Seems like I shopped through DOZENS of globe options. Maps and the internet just aren’t sufficient for me to get a full frame of reference when analyzing the globe. This one is GREAT! Generous size and legible (even for my old eyes) print for countries, states, cities etc. Topographic information also included. Best of all, it’s lighted from within which casts a lovely glow (the globe is pretty as well as educational) and makes it even more legible. Great choice!

Great for kids to play and learn!
This globe suddenly makes even imaginary travel so much more interesting! Now Geography is not only a study subject, but also so much FUN! The integrated lamp offers soothing and relaxing light at night if needed.

For globes, this was the best of the bunch, to me
This globe was the best from among the 10 or so comparable ones I looked at here. It is easy to read - the markings are reasonably large, in a readable font, and well laid out. The terrain features are not "raised"; however, they are indicated with markings that give that impression very well. The acrylic globe is a standout feature. It's quite solid, without being heavy. It will withstand a fall without being damaged. And, a bugaboo with mine, regarding globes: uneven seams, where a feature isn't lined up correctly on either side of the seam. Not a problem with this globe. It's a good choice. I'm giving it to a smart 5 year old, so she can look at it for years and learn.

Muy bonito!
Sobre todo iluminado está padrisimo, a mi hija le encanta y a mi y mi esposo tmb, los mapas son normales, letras pequeñitas etc no es una edición special para niños.

Very useful
I really loved it! It is still a good size for a small bedroom. Lighten works wonderfully. My children 8-11 have loved it and they are really enjoying learning and finding places. Countries are clear, but you cannot find all the important cities of every country. I think it is good enough for kids to understand the general world map, continents, oceans etc. Quality surprised me, it does not look cheap. Parallels, meridians, grades and scale info are very clear. In the photos the union seems big an annoying but in fact it is not really a distraction neither causes entropy to appreciate geography at Ecuator position.Found it extremely useful.

Nice globe with warm backlight
I bought this globe to demonstrate to my grandsons why we have day and night and all the other things related to time etc.The globe is nice and the oceans are in blue color. The stand and holder arm are of plastic and leave to desire. It would be nice if the base would have a metal plate to give it some weight.
