Casio 2018 PRG600Y-1 Watch PROTREK TRIPLE SENSOR TOUGH-SOLAR VER. 3 BLACK. Altimeter measuring range –700 to 10,000 m. CasioWith the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward. Do Not Buy This Watch!
Do not buy this watch for the functions, but get it for the looks! If you’ve researched this watch you can stop reading after the first few sentences. This is one of the few items that look better in person than in the photos. I have a small wrist and was concerned about he size, but it wears well and you can easily use with a long sleeve shirt. The reverse lcd display easily reads in the daylight, not so much inside. The black bezel makes the cities difficult to read in low light and note that this model does not have atomic time. Again it’s all about the looks and quality build, well worth the money if you can catch it on sale.As for the functions, read the manual before you purchase, and if you can live with the limitations it’s still about the looks. The compass is functional, but works best if you take it off you wrist and sit it on a level surface, a smart phone compass works much better. The altimeter works off of the barometric air pressure, my experience is that it is accurate within 50ft. Again a smart phone with GPS works much better. The Barometer is somewhat accurate, but the graph is difficult to read and needs to be calibrated for the area you are in. The sudden drop in pressure does alarm, but here again my smartphone weather app does a much better job of warning severe weather is approaching. The temperature is a joke, enough has been written in other reviews, get rid of this function and add atomic time capability. The luminous numbers are another fail. I had a watch as a kid that would last a few minutes if you exposed it to bright light, this is no different and possibly worse. The led light works, about all I can say as it’s just a bright glow at the bottom, looks cheap but works. All the other functions work, hard to mess up a stop watch function.I work construction along the Gulf coast, the watch is exposed to salt water and all sorts of hazards. It’s a big watch, expect to bump and catch it on lots of stuff, but it cleans up easily. The controls are easy to operate and somewhat intuitive. The 97 page manual is daunting at first, but half of it is explaining why the functions won’t be very accurate.Again a great looking watch that is light and wears all day easily. I’m looking for a cloth strap as the provided strap is rather hot. It’s a great $200 watch, just know what your getting before the purchase and you won’t be disappointed.

Daily use 24/7 (since 2 years)
Update 03.06.2018:The pin got back in the right location by it self sounds like there is kinda relocating system. This review was 3 stars. Am giving now 5 STARS.Thank you Casio just make it cheaper.Below is my old review:This is my daily hand watch since 8 months and I never take it off even while sleeping so basically 24/7 in my hand.Pro:1. Good build quality watch and strong wristband.2. Light weight, comfortable & Slim (Comparing to almost all G-shock & Pro Trek).3. Solar powered which I will never think about run out of battery.4. Same features as "G-SHOCK MUDMASTER GWG-1000" in a waaay cheaper price (of course not same specs).5. Looks good and plain which I can wear the watch at every time with almost anything I wear cloths and looks cool.Cons:1. It gets scratch very fast on the metal frame (I went outdoor 3 times only and most of the time in the office or at home).2. The Pins got off center (Look at the photo). Even though it works perfectly and it does rotate but am worried it might fall soon. And going back for a service is not an option for me.3. The glass is not protected by the frame and it can get scratched.*I would recommend this to you if you need all the features but I discovered that am only using the watch for the time and compass. Other than that am using my phone for all features such as (COMP, BARO, TEMP, ALTI, REC, ST, TR, AL, & WT).For me the only thing is worth it is the watch and solar and am ready to go.*If you dont care about the features then get some cheaper PRO-TREK.*If you want the most features and the look then this is the one.The PRG-600Y is the best balance between features, look, & price.

Excellent Watch!
I've had this watch for a few months now and love it as much now as the first day I got it. I bought a Pro Trek watch about 12 years ago and it was a huge eyesore of a watch but it was very functional and great for long motorcycle trips.Over the years, I stopped wearing it as much but I was always amazed when I would pull it out of a drawer after a year or so and it still had a full charge!I had been wearing a smartwatch for the last year or so and wanted to go back to a traditional analog watch but realized there were certain functions I still needed. I decided to see what Casio offered currently and was pleased to see this new Pro Trek was just as functional as my old one but much more attractive and slim.A word of advice, these watches are not intuitive to use even if you are tech savvy. Without the owner's manual, you would not be able to figure out at least half of the functions. Their choice of button functions for each menu group is random at best. Sometimes you're pressing the Compass and Altimeter buttons for added functions, otherwise times your pushing in the crown, and other times you have to pull out on the crown. It is strange at first, but once you get used to it, you will love it for how smooth it all actually works. I have a case full of watches, and this is now the only one I wear! One last note, I thought the night light was very poorly designed at first, especially considering my old Pro Trek from over a decade ago had an idiglo type light that illuminated the entire screen and this watch only has some strange two-stage light at the bottom. But don't worry, it does get the job done and I've always been able to read whatever it is that I've needed to see. I've even used it to help change a diaper in the middle of the night to keep my daughter from getting too disturbed by turning on a room light!

Indispensable in backcountry
Great watches. Do everything what promised. Helped a lot tracking weather changes with barometer in a 2-week backcountry trip. Thermometer was also indispensable. Looks good on a wrist in the city as well. Highly recommend
