Well it depends on your natural buoyancy however it Will help keep you afloat to some degree it is not a flotation vest

It does not but it does not ride up on me. I bought this to scuba dive w/.

Q: Has anyone tried lap swimming with this and what has been your experience.

I bought it to stay extra warm in the ocean while training for a triathlon. My arms had the freedom they needed to swim laps. It kept me warm and buoyant. I don't think it would use it on its own to swim laps, as my bottom half wouldn't have the correct buoyancy.

Very light weight. Made of 3mm neoprene. 12 to 14 ounces.
