Dr.meter S30 Soil Moisture Meter Sunlight PH Acidity 3-in-1 Soil Tester Kit for Garden Farm Lawn Planter

I needed to know more about the soils our plants, both garden and potted, to adjust the pH to match up with the plant needs. This meter seems to be the right answer to measure acidity/alklinity. It's simple to use and seems to indicate adequately for my purposes.

What a great and easy to use product. My husband and I would argue over how wet or dry the soil was in my house plants. Not anymore, I pull this out check the wet or dryness and water accordingly. Great product.

You really should use some kind of moisture sensor to figure out how much to water your plants. This device works for both manual watering of indoor plants, and for monitoring outdoor irrigation as the weather cycles through the seasons.This came as a pair of 2 units - his and hers. One of them worked well from the beginning. The other unit arrived with the needle floating near the middle of the range, but I whacked it hard on its side a couple of times, and re-zeroed it, and now it works well, too. They're unbelievably inexpensive, so I'm not complaining.Note that these things require no batteries for operation. They use a small photoelectric cell to measure light level well enough to site orchids. And they measure soil moisture and pH via electricity generated by the metal probes. I bought these as a replacement for a similar unit that I used frequently for a couple of years before the metal probe broke off after I jammed it into a pot with tight roots in dry soil. Avoid forcing it.

Inconsistent readings. Not sure what the deal is, but it seems to be affected by light and wind, when it's on ph setting. I don't have the time to figure out why it's inconsistent, but I will be looking elsewhere for a ph tester.The moisture reading is consistent when comparing it to my Etekcity Indoor/Outdoor Soil Moisture Sensor Meter, Plant Care Hygrometer -- but the fact that I don't know when the ph is accurate or not makes this product not worth the price. Would not recommend for ph testing. You only care about moisture, this would work, but I would just get a 1 function tester at that point.Update 9/15/17: The company had reached out to me and provided a full refund on their product, without me requesting or prompting. For that, I will mention that their customer service is diligent as they care very much about their product ratings. They asked me to update my review and as such, I have. However, I would find it a disservice to potential customers if I changed my star rating for their product. I do feel that the product itself warrants only 3 stars, due to the issues I described above. Considering this is an all-in-one product -- as it is described to be, it should perform those very functions to some level of accuracy. Since it does not, I cannot provide it a 4 or 5 star product. Again, to be fair, should you have any issues with your product, customer service seems on top of it to ensure that you are satisfied in some shape or form.

I wanted to leave a better review. I cannot. I used it one time during a drought, We have since been inundated with rain so it sat in the package until today. It does not work, The needle is stuck at about 25% from the lowest reading. I now have to find a more reliable product. . UPDATE! I received an email from the vendor this morning. They are sending me a replacement. Wow, Great customer service. More updates to come.Update, So I received a replacement free of charge. The customer service on this meter is outstanding. Fantastic meter. All functions work as advertised. Me and my Wife tested the soil acidity meter on different known soil types from different pots, some more acidic than others, the meter show us readings as per our understanding. We also tested the moisture sensing function on soil that were watered yesterday and others a while ago, the meter responded accordingly. It was in the evening that we tested the light sensor, it gave us a low light reading. Very impressed. The moisture sensor when placed at different levels, we can even see how moisture changes from top layer all the way deep down in the pot. This gives us a scientific guide as to when our plants needs to watering. True to the caring instructions, just wipe the probes with a tissue paper, the soil goes away, doesn't stick on the probe, very easy to clean and maintain. Hence 5 stars!

I bought two of these. One was a x-mass present. We tested both of them in two identical brand new potted geraniums. One pot was water just before testing and the other had been watered the day before. Neither meter measured any moister in the still-moist pot watered the previous day and one of the meters measured "some" moisture in the freshly watered, and essentially "wet" pot. Neither measured any moisture in three other potted plants around the house that had been watered within the past 2 days and were all moist, but not wet, to the touch.If we watered according to what these meters indicated we should, we would drown our plants. Completely and utterly useless and unreliable.

Updated review as of 9/3/17: After writing the below review last month, I was contacted shortly afterward by the customer service representative. The seller sent me a replacement meter to try again. It works without the previous issue occurring. I am very impressed with this seller's desire to make good with a customer. As such, I upgraded my rating as a result. Thank you for such great and prompt service!Former review:Major issue with usage. Today 8/3/17 is the first day I used this item, worked well recording soil pH, yet when removed it, one of the probes came apart from the main device. For the price, this should not happen.Unfortunately, I am past my return date by 5 days. Wasn't ready to try it out before today. The seller met their obligation, the item didn't, thus the rating of I don't like it.

Light meter works ok for the price but not the ph or other anything else just the light meter.

This little Meter is great. Light, moisture and ph levels to keep your plants fed lit and soil acidity in check. Also love the printed list of plants with their optimum light levels, ph levels and moisture levels to get you started!!
