Non Non Biyori Repeat

Saw some spoilers to check the DVD condition. Looks good. Can't wait to see it.

If you've already seen the first season of Non Non Biyori then you're probably ordering this expecting more of the same delightful slow paced antics from your favorite characters. That's exactly what this is. It's not a continuation but literally a repeat of the same year, showcasing different days, essentially progressing parallel to the first season. Almost nothing is different and there's no new characters, which for most 2nd seasons is a death knell, but for such a clever minimalist slice of life show about rural Japanese life, that's exactly what the viewers want. Renge is still Renge, Komari is still short, Nattsun is still energetic, Hotarun is still proper and humble, and the brother still can't get a word in. The village is still itself. Hikage and Konomi make more appearances here than in the first episode. I'm really happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first season.

This anime stole my heart. I watched it on crunchy role while home alone on quiet afternoons. I shared it with my husband and 8 year old daughter, not sure if they’d enjoy it being in Japanese with English sub titles. But they loved it and my daughter could follow along reading or just by what was going on. Plus the Japanese voices are so cute, I personally would rather learn Japanese than watch and English dub.It’s besutifully animated, and the characters innocent adventures in the Japanese country side remind me of other shows I grew up watching like Abonlea or Little House. You can watch this with your kids and feel relaxed and nostalgic.I was having a terribly depressed day recently, and we watched a few episodes and I felt completely better. The music, the scene establishments, and the stories give me the feels. When it ended I cried because it was so good, I cry when I talk about it to my husband, I cry like you cry when you hear a beautiful violin solo, that’s how beautiful this Anime is.

I enjoyed the first season of Non Non Biyori, and hesitated about the second season, wondering what could be added to it. Personally, I enjoyed the second season better. There were a lot of fun concepts and misunderstandings and a lot of interaction between characters that didn't interact much in the first season, notably Natsumi and Hotaru. We see a lot more of side characters like Hikage, Kazuho, Candy Store, and Konomi, as well.While the dvd release was not dubbed in English, something I really like about it is the inclusion of special features, including a panel with the four main voice actresses and certain episode commentaries. You can see how much the voice actresses care about the series, which is refreshing. Also, hearing and seeing Rie Murakawa (Hotaru's voice actress) out of character is definitely a surprise. I appreciate that Sentai Filmworks took the time and effort to sub these extra features that also shed light on some of the culture referenced.

don't buy this if you plan to buy the complete non non biyori. you will being buying repeat twice.

Disk: Unlike with what they did with the first season, Sentai Filmworks didn't cram all 12 episodes onto one Blu-Ray disk, and, as a result, there are a surprising amount of extras spread over these two disks including English-subtitled Japanese commentary tracks, the 6 "Dagashi" episodes with the main vocal cast visiting actual candy stores while Rina Satou, the voice of Kaede Kagayama, the "Candy Store" lady, provides commentary, and a panel interview with the main cast. However, like with the first season, there's no English dub so English-speaking anime fans averse to reading subtitles should continue to look elsewhere or pray for Sentai to re-release both seasons at some point in the future with a dub.Anime: The "Repeat" in the title means that this season takes place during the same year as the first season, showing some other things that happened to the young residents of remote Asahigaoka village during that year. I'd call them "side stories" but it's not really an applicable term because the entire series is slice-of-life vignettes without an overarching story arc. It fills some gaps more than anything else.The second season begins just a day or two before the first episode of the first season and shows Renge Miyauchi's entrance ceremony to Asahigaoka Branch School, where there are only three other students, Natsumi, Komari, and Suguru Koshigaya, who are all siblings with each other and Renge's own older sister, Kazuho, is the teacher. Soon after, as seen in the first episode of the first season, the fifth-grade transfer student, Hotaru Ichijou, arrives from the city, bulking up the multi-grade classroom to five. Throughout the year, Renge learns about the life cycle as well as how to ride a bicycle while new arrival Hotaru learns to cope with rural life with few of the conveniences she took for granted in the city. Hotaru seeming to adjust a bit too quickly to life in the country might have been a slight problem with the first season, we get to see her act with a little more trepidation towards her new surroundings here.Another way the second season improves ever so slightly over the first season is that it gives a little more character development to the supporting characters, especially Konomi Fujimiya. In the first season, Konomi just kind of shows up in a couple of episodes without much of any explanation as to who she is other than "some neighbor girl" who everyone except for Hotaru and the viewer seems to know, but this season, we learn a little more about her, like how she commutes to high school on the outskirts of the nearest city and also how she's interested in gardening and magic tricks. We also get to see a bit more of the middle Miyauchi sister, Hikage, who graduated from Asahigaoka Branch School the previous spring and now lives in an apartment in Tokyo, where she goes to high school, but who makes frequent returns to Asahigaoka village to make trouble with Natsumi. And, while candy store girl Kaede Kagayama got an adequate amount of development in the first season, we get to see more of her acting as another surrogate parent figure to Renge (whose actual parents are always out working the rice fields, to the point where they're never really shown).The second season brought back practically the entire creative team from the first and the art looks pretty much exactly the same, although some of the background art seems just a hair more detailed and luscious. I love the shots with sunsets casting orange-tinted light and lengthening shadows across the vegetation.If you enjoyed the first season, the second season is the perfect compliment to it, although, because of the unusual way both seasons are structured, covering the same year, you could pretty much watch either one first or even combine the two into one mega-season! タイトルの通りです最近の北米版は字幕にかんして諦めていたのですがPCのフリープレイヤー Leaw〇 Blu-ray player　と言うのを使ったらすべての字幕が消せましたというか普通に再生したら字幕はすべて出てきませんでした※（何となく一文字伏せておきますがそのまま検索可能です）Amazonレビューで字幕が消せないと言われていたタイトルが次々と字幕を消せてるのでおすすめのプレイヤーです北米版K-ON!　北米版　ごちうさseason１＆season２　のんのんびより＆のんのんびよりrepeat　と今のとこすべて字幕が消せます、おすすめです画質も申し分なしでこれだけコンパクトにワンパッケージまとめてあると収納もしやすく良いと思います

北米版なのでリージョンフリーのプレーヤーで観るのが良いですね。のんのんびよりは好きで、全話見れて嬉しいのですが、英語の字幕が消せないことで★４にさせてもらいました。でも、気にしなければ全然大丈夫です。

ディスク２枚組で、１～９話、１０～１２話の構成になっています。特典は不要なので、容量的に可能であれば本編を１枚に収めてほしかった。そもそも、日本語のオーディオコメンタリーが『北米版』に必要なのかな？PS3で国コード変更により再生できましたが、字幕は消せませんでした。あと、画面内に表示されている文字の字幕が、前作とは違って元の文字に被らない位置へ移動し、大きさも小さくなっています。
