Couldn’t put it down!
This is an extraordinary powerful page turner of a book, I couldn’t put it down. One very successful business woman who keeps trying to get everything right in her life, Lisa’s life has been seeking happiness, validation and love in every corner, through work, men, money and business success. You’d think she had everything looking from the outside of her glossy, exciting life, top of her field, popular and clever…well she had everything she worked so hard to get… but that’s never enough…Once Lisa stepped out of her comfort zone she starts to live the life she had always sought. It wasn’t the life she expected. What she discovered about herself along the way, at times made me cry. It’s honest and brave, a book that lets you look into the author’s soul, which feels like such a privilege, to be let in and really see someone.it’s a cracking read that takes you from beach to beach around the world, if you buy one book this year, buy this, you won’t regret it.

Inspirational and engaging
Life is made up of forks in the road and the paths we follow are not always the ones that are right for us. I loved reading about Lisa's journey and the decisions she makes- sometimes the right ones at the right time and others down road less travelled. This is an honest and fearless book about making changes and the decisions that women in particular have to face- marriage, children, love, career. What I really love about this book is the fact that this is Lisa's journey. She allows the reader to draw their own conclusions and doesn't seek to change us or make us feel guilty for not throwing it all it and living on a Goan beach (although that's pretty tempting too!) A beautifully human and tender memoir. Treat yourself.

Moving, admirably candid account of a journey towards self-understanding
I read this over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lisa, a successful publisher, at the height of her career suddenly finds herself swept up in a perfect storm of a toxic work environment, an unfulilling marriage and a slide into alcoholism. Her first coping strategy - a headlong sexual adventure - is recounted with admirable candour. But before long she moves on to the far more difficult challenge - confronting the deep trauma that lurks at the eye of her personal storm. It's a real pleasure to read about a career woman's journey to self-knowledge, sweeping away all the debris left by religious programming and society's impossible expectations of women and connecting with the young girl inside who longs to live surrounded by love and joy. Brave, raw and brutally honest in the best way
I did not expect this book to be this book. I knew it was going to be good, but I had no idea that the moment I started reading I wouldn’t be able to put it down until I finished it at midnight! It truly is the British counterpart to Eat Pray Love. There is no schmaltz, instead there is an almost tangible realness to every part of the story, I felt like I was there as I was reading it. It’s real and raw and honest, in the way that too few people dare to be.Lisa is a fantastic writer, and she has a fantastic and inspiring story to tell. If you’re stuck in an unsatisfactory life and longing for a taste of freedom, I dare you to read this book.Thank you Lisa for sharing your amazing story with the world. Keep doing what you’re doing!

Thoroughly enjoyable, emotive journey
To loosely borrow from a quote near the end of the book, Lisa's story is flooded with light. Yes, this is a story of grief, trauma, good and bad relationships, people and places, but there is an optimism and positivity threaded throughout. Having grown up by the sea, I particularly enjoyed the beachfront settings that clearly bring Lisa so much joy - you can really sense the calmness and contentment through her words. I found myself feeling relaxed and pictured being on the sand on several occasions. Particularly enjoyed the picture of the dogs walking "along the street as though they had somewhere to be"!
