Take a nostalgic trip down memory lane
If you were a fan of any of the bands which played in the North East of Scotland in the 1960s/70s/80s then this book is compelling reading. Lots of information about the numerous bands which played in various bars, lounges and town halls etc. in the north-east and beyond (and their changing members) lots of nostalgic photos and memorobilia too. Names and faces you will recognise, some of which still perform today. A trip down memory lane. Not to be overlooked, the book does also cover the decades 1920s to 1950s, which is rather before my time of going to public bars. An excellent compilation, buy it!

Well put together
Bought this because my grandfather's band was in it. He was always changing his name, mostly because he was always up to no good. And there are no pictures of him in it either. But my mum remembers the band members coming to her house and the music. They were banned from playing at the music hall because the music was inviting ladies to flash thier knickers, that was the 50s for you and rock n roll. This book has lot to read and a good collection of newspaper clips. Great if you're needing some history on local north east bands and have a family connection.

Very well researched
I grew up in Aberdeen but moved to London when I was eighteen. I knew many of the people included in the book, and played with a few of them, so I find it fascinating to see how these bands evolved over time, and how the musicians moved from band to band. Very well documented and accompanied by great photographs. Obviously a real labour of love.

Detailed thorough account of Aberdeen bands
A most enjoyable reminder of groups in Aberdeen over the last fifty years. Very well researched with photos and press cuttings. Having been to watch many of these groups at the time and knowing some of the musicians it was a pleasurable reminder of happy days. The book is very readable and entertaining and is a good record of the music scene in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen bands
Brought back lots of memories for me seeing musicians i knew and played with. Back then, D.J's were simply guys with big record collections who played between bands while everyone went to the bar! I remember a lot of changes between personnel - you would see the same guys playing in different bands continously. No big money involved , just for the love of it. Hugh has done a lot of research here and i'm sure band members will enjoy reading it.
