Makes a loud grinding noise
I bought this mixer during Amazon's deal of the day for a STEEP discount. It just arrived today, and I immediately cleaned the components and got ready to use it. As soon as I turned it on, it started to make a loud grinding noise. It only happens on the lower levels and not when I turn it up to the highest settings. It is not an issue with the beater clearance. I am replacing an older kitchenaid ultra power mixer from 14 years ago, so I know how to use these mixers. I contacted kitchenaid customer service, and they are replacing the unit because it is obviously under warranty. I decided to have a replacement shipped directly from the manufacturer because I felt like it might lessen the chance of getting another lemon (it might be naive but oh well). I'm sure Amazon would've done a fine job handling the replacement, but I'm just doing it for peace of mind. I'll update my rating once I get to try the new one, and if it doesn't sound like I'm killing it. I'm kinda disappointed because my old kitchenaid was AMAZING! I wouldn't have replaced it if it still worked (I was making some bread dough and it fell off my counter when I my back was turned). I will say that this professional model is gorgeous! The bowl is massive, and the attachments are super nice looking. Fingers crossed the second one will actually work!UPDATED 2/22/18:I just received my replacement from kitchenaid, and it's AMAZING! I immediately tried it out, and motor doesn't make that awful grinding noise. The whole process was unfortunate and did take a week to resolve, but it was fairly painless and kitchenaid's warranty department was great. I will note that there was a difference in the packaging between the mixer I got from amazon and the one I just got from the manufacturer. The one from amazon arrived in a plain, brown box that had kitchenaid printed on the outside. It didn't faze me at the time, but now that I can compare it to the one from kitchenaid, I wonder if I got a knockoff. The one from kitchenaid had pictures of the product on the outside and the brand's images printed on it (exactly like what you'd see if you bought this mixer from a store). Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and I'm glad that kitchenaid fixed the problem!

Exactly like the pro 600
When I initially saw this come up as a deal of the day, I did a quick Buy With One Click to make sure I got it before the deal ended. Then I did my research quickly while I still had time to cancel the order. The reviews were scary. But some of the reviews were by people who had never even seen the machine, but felt inclined to post a review based on other reviews they'd read. What's up with that??? Someone answered a question on this site saying that KA rep said that the KL model number is not in their system. Not sure who they talked to, but they were mis-informed. I called KA and spoke with a great rep there who spent quite a bit of time comparing this model with the 600 pro. She said that the motor and almost all the parts were identical. The only difference she saw was the wire whisk and the metal band around the head.I stuck with my purchase and I'm thrilled I did. I've had a KA 4.5 qt classic mixer for 20 years. It's great, but it only has the 'J' dough hook and not a ton of power for serious dough. This unit cranks through the dough and life is a lot easier with the spiral hook. I was a little concerned about the sound when it was kneading. It's a lot noisier and a little metallic sounding than my 4.5. I took a video of it running and posted it on thefreshloaf.com. Several owners of the 600 pro confirmed that this is exactly what theirs sounds like. Perhaps it has to do with metal vs. plastic gears. I've also not had the problem that some have had with grey in the dough. I washed everything the first time I used them. Just a soapy sponge and then air dry on the dish rack. And I do it that way after each use. Not sure why that's happening to people. So I'm six loaves of bread and three pizzas in and loving it. $220 - deal of the day? Deal of the year.Edit - Almost a year and well over a hundred loaves of bread in, my opinion hasn't changed. It's doing great and I haven't purchased a loaf of bread since I bought it.

Professional Mixer makes me feel like a Professional Chef
This is my 3rd Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. I have previously owned 2 5 quart Artisian models and needed an upgrade to handle my needs. My Kitchen Aid stand mixers get heavy usage. I had been researching professional grade mixers and was looking at purchasing the 7 quart, but with the price of this one on Cyber Monday, I just could not justify the difference in cost and decided to try the 6 quart to see if it would handle my needs. So far I have made a double batch of egg noddles, a double batch of crescent rolls, and a batch of cookies that makes 5 1/2 dozen at once. I was only able to do single batches in my previous mixer and the cookie dough always rode up the paddle attachment making a huge mess and a hard clean up, not to mention the motor itself never sounded quite right when mixing the large batches. I told my husband that I would try out this model first and if it didn't suit my needs that I would want to go ahead with the 7 quart, but so far, this mixer is meeting my needs quite nicely. If you are a heavy duty baker and tackle yeast breads, large batches of cookies and other doughs, I would highly recommend this mixer! I am extremely pleased with it and hope that it will handle my yeast roll dough that requires 10 cups of flour just as it has handled everything else so far! My only con is that I am finding it difficult to get the bowl on the prongs, but will readily admit that it is user error because I keep trying to put it on the wrong way. I'm sure that once I have used it a few more times that I will learn how to get it right the first time.

Its good, no complaints. Update: after a year speed control broke
Update September 30 2020This thing is still going strong. I knead bread dough 2 times a week. The problem mentioned below turned out to be a speed sensor part had moved on a shaft. I used a little piece of tape on the shaft to prevent it from moving to fix the problem. I had to disassemble the unit and noticed something didn't seem to be lined up right and noticed a part of the speed sensor was a bit loose on a shaft.Update Jan 1 2019: I have used the mixer a couple of times a week to mix sourdough bread for a year and a few days and the speed control has just failed. Looks like I'm going to spend 100 bucks for a replacement part. I recently started mixing double batches and that seems of have overheated it which blew the speed control module. The heavier batches were 2 lb. flour and 20 oz. water. It caused the machine to heat up in five or 10 minutes of kneading and there was a burned wire smell and then suddenly it went to full speed and stopped completely after 20 seconds or so. Now when i turn it on to slow speed it goes to max speed for 10 seconds or so and stops.Mixed and kneaded a loaf of sourdough so far. Its good, no complaints. Noise not a problem. runs smooth. lots of power. too tall to fit under my cupboards but I don't care. The mixer tools are made of aluminum or some kind of pot metal. makes dishtowles black so clean them really well before use the first time at least. I wish they were stainless steel. I got the flour mill as well and it seems ok but maybe the flour will be a bit course. not sure yet if that will affect my sourdough negatively.

El amor de mi vida
No dudes en comprar esta fabulosa batidora! Me parece que si es más grande que la versión artisan, por lo que ten eso en cuenta.

we love it and use it often... no issues at all
I got this as a late birthday gift for my wife. She's always wanted it (or something very similar), but we never splurged. On prime day, this was at a level 300 dollars so we took the plunge, and haven't looked back. She absolutely loves it. She's using it a couple of times per week and has had exactly ZERO problems with it.It mixes fantastically. Small quantities can be a challenge though, but not enough to remove a star.I used it once to make pizza dough, with about 3 cups of flour in there (just to give an idea on the quantity). I helped it along with a spatula, so that it can grab the entire thing and mix it properly. There's probably an order to follow; I just dumped all the contents of the recipe in at once... I'm guessing I should have added the liquids slowly. It looks great on our counter as well, the stainless/grey look is really nice.I would recommend this to anyone.
