Best gaming headset on the market for money and hearing preservation.
Far too many people don't consider the impact of sustained loud noise on their hearing until they've had hearing loss, developed tinnitus, or suffered some other permanent problem caused by simple ignorance and/or carelessness. This issue is being experienced by an alarmingly growing number of people, particularly teenagers and young men and women who grew up regularly using personal music players and playing video games using headphones. Modern online gaming does more or less demand the use of a headset and mic, and Puro Sound Labs's innovative PuroGamer headset offers an innovative solution that features great comfort, good sound quality, and most importantly, regulates both sound volume and balance to protect your precious hearing. The fact that the company uses vegan leather for its headband is also a definite bonus for people who care about the environment and protecting animals from harm.I am not affiliated with Puro Sounds Labs, received no renumeration for my review, and bought a pair of PuroGamer 2.0 headphones to use with my own money. I am a health and wellness professional who is also a gamer and has experienced both tinnitus and hearing loss due to excessive noise exposure, so I am quite well acquainted with the psychological and physiological damage that noise can cause, particularly when unsafe exposure is inadvertent. This is my honest opinion about a product that I think deserves far more recognition than it has gotten from both the audio and gaming industry as a whole.I've had a chance to thoroughly test these headphones and, as a grown adult, find them comfortable for hours of use. The mic delivers clear, concise speech during gaming, and while the headphones themselves don't have a noise cancellation feature (something that is limited to the mic alone), this isn't a problem if used in a reasonably quiet setting. The mic is detachable for when it isn't needed, and the braided headphone cord provides both volume adjustment and mic muting features, as well as plenty of length. The headphones also come in a stylish bag so that they can be stored away when not in use, which I appreciate. The headphones utilize a simple headphone jack and are virtually just plug and play, whether you use a PC or game console. Instructions for use are included.Puro uses a balanced response equalizer in its sound delivery to ensure that treble and bass don't become overpowering, and while this does emphasize the midrange and may not deliver the ear-rattling bass that some may prefer, your ears will thank you for it. Clarity is quite good and I noticed that I could game and listen to music for hours without experiencing listening fatigue or a sensation of fullness in my ears that can sometimes develop when sound equalization is off. The sound is stereo, and does not utilize any surround sound processing technology, but for most, this shouldn't be a deal-breaker. These are not audiophile headphones, as other reviewers have noted, but they deliver very respectable performance in both comfort and sound quality, especially given the low asking price. If things do go wrong, the headset does include a full 1-year warranty, which is outstanding at this price point. Most importantly, these headphones prevent noise levels from exceeding 85db. This volume cap is FAR more than enough - in fact, if 85db isn't loud enough for gaming purposes, you might want to get your hearing checked to ensure that everything is in good working order. 85db is a very conservative sound ceiling for preserving hearing if used up to 8 hours per day, and, in fact, some government health organizations would recommend even lower volume maximum levels if you are going to be using these for 8+ hours daily. Nevertheless, these headphones are the absolute best solution on the market for parents concerned about shielding their children from accidental hearing loss or for responsible adults who love music and gaming but want to ensure that they protect their hearing for life.It seriously blows my mind that more headphone manufacturers haven't built this type of volume limiting technology into their products, particularly for casual users that are the ones least likely pay attention to not exceeding safe volume levels. The fact that Puro has based its entire product line on hearing preservation without sacrificing sound quality, and delivers its stylish, comfortable products at a very reasonable price point to boot is commendable and honestly game-changing (no pun intended). This company (Puro Sound Labs) deserves your attention and support.

Don't buy this crappy product. Microphone cuts out.
I purchased this headset one month ago and it is 3 days outside of it's return period. The microphone continues to cut-out and virtual audiences can't hear what I'm saying. Poor design with the detachable mic. I would not recommend buying this product.

Limits volume by low output only, uncomfortable.
Unfortunately these do not appear to be limited to 85 dB max volume by actively adjusting the input and output, they simply have a very low output based on the input. So if you use these at 100% volume output from your PC or phone you might get close to 85 dB, but if you have the volume set at something sensible for other headphones and speakers, you will get much lower output.I also dislike the angle at which the headphones meet your ears, they do not adjust well, though your kids may not complain about this as much. The shape of the earphones is completely circular, so they do not surround your ears as comfortably as traditional circumaural headphones

Only works sometimes
I bought three of these headphones for my kids to play on their Xbox and online classes. They don't work on apple products. iMusic constantly launches when you plug them in (for iPads and Macs). Sometimes the kids have trouble turning off the music while they are in class. The headphones and/or microphone occasionally work with the Xbox (don't ask me which model - it's black that's as much as I know). Protecting our hearing is important to us. We found the most reliable headphones from Puro are their cheap wired headphones - we love them.

Not suitable for PC use out of the box
This comes with a 3.5mm, 4 connector TRRS plug. The majority of desktop PCs come with two separate 3.5mm 3 connector TRS jacks - one for the headphones, one for the microphone. Every previous headset that I've bought for PC use has come with an adapter, but this doesn't - they're not expensive, but this was bought as a birthday present for my son who is now a bit grumpy that he can't use his new headphones on his PC.Given that this is specifically advertised as compatible with PC (with a photo in front of a desktop keyboard) I'm a bit disappointed to have to buy something else to get it working.
