Great Item, But Get It In Person
I am no stranger to the Schmincke watercolor palette, and considering that I am purchasing it again, that means it is a worthwhile product. I for one prefer that the palette does not completely snap closed, and the metal is a bit thicker than what you would find in cheaper alternatives. Additionally, I was able to fit 28 full pans in the container as opposed to 24 (if you push the pans close together, you can fit one more pan per row). That being said, consider buying this palette at an actual art store as opposed to buying on amazon. Mine arrived dented and scuffed in the corners. I would would replace it were it not for the hassle and for the fact that the damage is not significant. But if you are the type of person who is easily irritated by small imperfections (which I typically am such a person) then take a trip to your local art store for this lovely item.

I bought two ...
Someone else suggested getting the cheapo off-brand and I'd agree. It's actually a better overall product. It just doesn't say Schmincke on it. So unless you're completing a set, there's really no reason to buy these.- These don't stay closed. You'll need to rubber band them to keep them closed.- These are not waterproof or moisture proof. Water will get in and come out of them.- Not the best design or implementation. It's pretty much just a cheap tin that's not really worthy of the Schmincke branding on it.

Good product, buy elsewhere
Superior than the cheaper ‘similar’ items on offer (primarily as to how the rows of tabs holding the pans are oriented). Lid moulding is slightly curved, unlike the flat types of most cheaper varieties. Screenprinted logo is good for additional ego boost among other artists. Pricing here ($90ish at time of purchase) is atrocious. So atrocious I’d have to take off two stars instead of one.

Works fine
Works well. It can be kind of annoying removing pans which is why I deducted a star. You have to bend back the metal clip to remove and it doesn't spring back. You have to remove any pan near the metal clip to push it back in so that when you reinsert the pan it's not loose from the clip being bent back. I like the wells for mixing and the coating is good too.The first one I received I had to return because it did not snap shut, but the second one snaps closed and stays closed.

I Admit It. We Are Spoiled.
I'd of preferred this pan had arrived in better condition, as it was dented on all four of the outside cover raised mixing pans. It also required a little tweaking of the lid cover to remain closed, but since it was already dented I just gave it a medium smash on the closing lip and now it locks nice and tight. Still, I have to give it 5 stars. While most of us are not a Rembrandt or V. Van Gogh, I figure that those guys never had half of the perks that we have today. They certainly didn't spend $75.00 for an empty tin. But with the modern advantage of so many mixed colors a larger tin is needed. While I'm not an artist, I've quickly learned to like the pan system over the built in dividers that most of my other empty palette's come with. It's a great feature having removable pans for any number of reasons, aside from just keeping good separation of colors. As for the dents, I consider it character. Now if only I could afford to buy some of those fine Schmincke paints, but for now I will settle for the great paint tin. Thanks.

Great for customizing your palette
Well constructed with generous room for numerous half pans. I can swap out as my palette changes.

Durable Palette
4 star rating due to dints in tin when it arrived. Other than that it’s a great palette. Light weight. Not as heavy as the whiskeys painters palette. Seems durable. If your looking for something that’s not going to dint easily get the whiskeys palette.

The best watercolour box arround
The best quality watercolour box from the makers of some of the best watercolour paints. Well built and robust, will last a lifetime. I don't know what those who only gave 1 star to were reviewing by this is the best I have seen so much that I have now bought my fourth to hold all my paints

Quality Product
I have purchased four of these now. They are nicely made, very robust and have a little weight to them. The little tabs can take a lot of opening and closing without losing their hold. When you spend ridiculous money for quality watercolours, you need a quality tin in which to store them! Very happy to pay the extra price for a good quality product.I keep my half pans in these for home use and have a smaller, lightweight plastic travel palette for outdoor use.

Schmincke - Great Paints Poor Tins
I was a bit disappointed with this paint tin. I wanted a larger capacity tin for Schmincke half pans. This is poor quality compared to an unbranded tin that I use for W&N pans. The base is twisted so it wobbles and the lid is loose. It was a gift from my husband so I feel bad about being ungrateful but I wish I had got a 24/48 half pan unbranded tin.

best watercolour box I can afford.
Very good for sure... but somehow a little thinner and lighter than expected... of well, still the best watercolour box I can afford.
