Cool Tools for Hot Topics: Group Tools to Facilitate Meetings When Things Are Hot (The Little Books of Justice and Peacebuilding)

This is an excellent, practical book. It not only clearly describes various techniques (almost 3 dozen), but sorts them by category (Getting Started, Gathering Information, Closing, etc.) and discusses the strengths, weaknesses, and special considerations for the various techniques. It is brief and easy to read. The authors even provide guidance on which techniques require advanced or experienced facilitators. It is a helpful book for when you are facilitating meetings yourself, or working with an outside facilitator and need to carefully choose an approach to potentially difficult or unproductive meetings.

I bought this to help me prepare to lead a social justice discussion group at my church. I feel more confident afterreading it and taking notes. Good stuff, highly recommend.It's short and an easy read for busy group facilitators!

This text for a future class, Spring 2014 arrived early and in fabulous condition. I am using it in a class grad level for ministry of Interfaith between Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists in Hartford, CT at Hartford Seminary!

This book is simple enough to share with the groups I'm in and useful enough to transform them.

After reading this little book, I bought copies for all my circuit ministers -- who frequently have to engage their folk in conversations which can get difficult. This book particularly helps in giving techniques to avoid the 'loud voices' taking over
