TONE Short Ratchet Handle Compact Head (Socket Hold Type) RH3CHS 3/8" Inch Drive

Tone quality is top notch. The mechanism sits in the head with surprisingly tight tollerances and smooth rotation. The release button on the back doesn't stick up to high and has a tighter spring with longer travel to release the socket. I suspect this is to prevent accidental release when putting hand pressure on the back of the ratchet head. The directional switch has a nice positive flick to it and doesn't "shimmy" when turning the mechanism. I personally don't like a switch that's too easy to use, it makes it more likely to change direction accidentally when using in close quarters. Everything is finished very well on the entire ratchet. I really like the satin-pearl chrome finish Tone use. After a while, I've gotten tired of having all shiny chrome tools. You won't be using this all the time, but if you need a compact stubby, this is the one to reach for. It's surprisingly strong as well.

First off, this ratchet is small! I knew that when I bought it. The magic is in the ability to use all of my 3/8" drive sockets on this. Great for getting in tight spots or for speed ratcheting in areas that I can not get a cordless ratchet in. It's not for high torque situations, but it is solid.The build and finish is very nice. Sockets fit the square well. I really like the quick release. The button is positive and holds the sockets firmly. The back drag is minimal.If you use ratchets in your work or hobby, this is an excellent addition to your toolbox. I have tons of different ratchets and this is one of my favorites.

This is by far the best compact 3/8 ratchet on the market , lightweight. Smooth ratcheting gears , and sturdy body . Looks great too ! This should be in every toolbox !

The rachet is very well built but the back drag is a little tight compared to the same ratchet made by Capri. I love my Capri ratchets. Smooth as butter

This thing is tiny! Small enough to just carry in the pocket and not place in the toolbox. The build quality is fantastic. Low back drag and nice finish. I wouldn’t recommend this as someone’s go-to 3/8” drive as it’s way too small to facilitate any real torque but it is an excellent ratchet for everyday carry. My wife wrenches on her motorcycle when I wrench on mine and she always reaches for the smallest/cutest tool. Naturally, this is her new favorite thing.

This is perfect for tight spaces and the quality of this ratchet.is outstanding. So happy I found this ratchet will be buying more Tone ratchets in the future.

I took photos of this ratchet alongside a typical 3/8 inch drive ratchet handle. You can clearly see how tiny it is. This isn't for every job, but it is great for situations where you have to turn a very difficult to reach not or belt. I've also taken a picture of it with a typical 3/8-in drive 1/2 in opening socket attached. This again gives you an idea of the scale. This is going to be so much better to use than the little thumb wheels I've tried in the past for dealing with really difficult to reach locations. Obviously this isn't a torque monster for taking off those tough fasteners. But it's going to be a very great specialty addition to my wrench collection. Beautifully made in Japan.

This ratchet with some 3/8 stubby sockets can easily replace a 1/4 ratchet. The back drag was good enough but I took a little bit off the inner spring and added a small amount of lubrication. It's super smooth now. The back drag is as good as koken after modification. Highly recommended.

バイクのカスタム用にミニサイズのラチェットが欲しかったので購入。このメーカーはほしかったので購入したんですが、よくよく調べたら少し重いけどもっと安価な物もあるんですね。自分の使用頻度的にもう少しランクを落としても良かったかもしれません。

以前工場設備の設計・施工・メンテを行う会社で働いていました。（過去形なのは現役引退の為・会社の責任者が車好き・工具好きだったので、Ko-ken・Snap-onをメインに使用・高所作業では電動工具の使用を禁止されている会社が多いので手工具を多く使用）ラチェットハンドルは現在使用出来る物としてKTC 5本・TONE3本・Ko-ken5本・ＡＰ1本・ＳＥＫ２本・SIGNET１本を使用してます。以前メンテをやっていた長い経験と、今回買い揃えて使用した工具の使用感を、簡単に書かせていただきたいと思います。KTC・TONE・Ko-ke・も基本的にはどのラチェトハンドルを買っても間違えは無いと思います。（KTC・ネプロスとKo-ken・Z-EALは別格でした。ＡＰ・SIGNETは・・・）多少の金額の差なら後悔をしない為この3社なら間違え無いと思います。しかしKTCスイベルと、ＴＯＮＥコンパクトショートラチェット (RH3CHS)は若干使用感に関して軟な感じが否めない感じがしました。最近ではギアが歯数７２位・ヘッド小型化が一般的になりつつありますが、歯数３６位の方が耐久性は有ると思います。（昔のKTCやスエカゲの２４枚位のラチェトハンドルは多少の事では壊れなかった。前から使っているKTC・スエカゲ両方２０～３０年前のモデル）逆に言えば最近のラチェットハンドルにはリペアーキットが有るのは、耐久性が昔の物より劣るから？と思いたくなるくらいです。ただRH3CHSは他に類を見ないコンパクトさは使い勝手は最高です。これである程度耐久性が有れば文句なしですが。あまり多くを言っても爺さんの戯言になりますのでこの辺にしておきます。ただラチェットハンドルを１本しか買わないのであれば、９．５ｍｍの物を選択されるなら多少ヘッドが大きくても絶対ギア歯数少ない物を購入されるか（今でもKo-kenのベーシックモデルは歯数２４枚が主流・最近の物は36・72になった・２４枚のベーシックモデルは壊れないしタッチもいい・会社で多く使っていたので今回はあえて買わなかった）、結構トルクをかけるような作業が多いのであれば１２，７mm物を選択された方が良いと思います。トルクのかけすぎで、歯こぼれするよりは後悔しないのでは。リペアーキットは結構値段が高くて、新品を買うより若干安い程度なので。（ここに書いたことはあくまでも個人的な主観になりますので、人によって感じ方や使用状況によっても違うと思います。参考程度に考えていただければ幸いです）

小型軽量シンプルでいいっすねぇーモンキーの工具箱に入れてつかってますプラグ回すのに小さいから締めすぎないしギアが細かいからイライラしなくてすむ左右の切り替えがフラットなので締めてる最中にどこかにあたって緩めにならないのがいい今後、ラチェットはトネに入れ換える予定です

購入直後なので耐久性はわかりませんが、作りが良いのは体感できます。モノとしての魅力、存在感は満足です。オートバイのエンジン周りなど普通サイズのハンドルが入らないところも多く、この小ささが有利です。ラチェットの細かさも充分。グリップが短く細めなので高トルクで締めこもうとしても手が痛いです。10ミリ以上で強いトルクが必要になる場合は別のツールも持ち出す必要があります。

4/1のボディに8/3の機構がついています。これにより4/1のソケットは持たずに済みます。今はスイベルとこれの2本で他はあまり使わなくなってしまいました。
