Noise Grabber Mass Loaded Vinyl 4’ x 4’ (16 SF) 1/2 LB MLV Soundproofing Barrier, Best Quality, Made in the USA

I was looking for more of a high density acoustic foam. This stuff is dense, somewhat rigid, not elastic, and not compressible at all. I think this can only be used in a building application, not a DIY acoustics project.I am trying to soundproof an interior door, but this material is too heavy for that, too hard to cut, and would need another layer on top of it to be presentable (making it thicker and even more heavy).But it is heavy and dense... I can vouch for that.

This really works it helps a lot compared to what I had before. You must I read must have someone to help you if you are putting it on the ceiling you need 2 ppl. I did all my ceiling and my bedroom walls so she can be as loud as she wants. I ask the neighbor he baily hears anything now. 👍🏼

This 0.5 lb one is great for light noise blocking. However, this did nothing for slamming doors over my door in my apartment. I think this is a good option but not the best option for true noise blocking, the 2 lb one is better (based on my research).This vinyl material was extremely easy to cut using utility scissors. It also was easy to hang with heavy-duty adhesive double-sided tape. The product has a nice weight to it but doesn’t suit my needs. I definitely want to reorder from this product in the heavier size.

I did not see a huge difference in sound.

Purchased to dampen sound between my son's studio aparment and my home. It works pretty good. This is the lightweight version. I just can't imagine how effective the heavier weight materials works. But based on this it must be way better. It is heavy don't kid your self. But works nicely. Dampens sounds. It does what it was designed to do. Would buy again with out hesitation .

The product is what it is. No weird smells, neutral smell. I bought 1 lb MLV with this, and measured both of them, this product is 1/2 pound so it makes sense it is half the thickness of it. Checks out. Material is good quality, feels strong yet pliable, easy to cut into and work with.

Works as advertised

They claim it is odor free and non toxic, yet I can smell it through the package and didn't even open the envelope. I would rather smell a toilet than this. It smells like if aliens built a low quality robot and it took a dump lol. Also it doesn't seem to block sound that well (wrapped it around a microphone). I do not recommend this for DIY, but maybe it can block sound in walls, <i>maybe</i>. But at $40 for just 4 sq.feet you might as well just buy green glue!
