A Game-Changer for Home Security – Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) Review
I recently purchased the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. This little device has completely transformed the way I manage home security and monitor my front door. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my experience, including the pros and cons:Pros:1. Crystal-Clear 1080p HD VideoThe video quality is outstanding. Whether it’s day or night, the footage is sharp and detailed, making it easy to identify visitors, packages, or any suspicious activity.2. Easy InstallationSetting up the Ring Doorbell was a breeze. The instructions were clear, and I had it up and running in under 30 minutes. It’s wireless, so no complicated wiring was needed (though hardwiring is an option if you prefer).3. Motion Detection and AlertsThe motion detection feature is incredibly responsive. I receive instant notifications on my phone whenever someone approaches my door, even if they don’t ring the bell. The customizable motion zones are a great addition, helping to reduce false alerts.4. Two-Way AudioThe two-way audio is clear and works like a charm. I’ve used it to talk to delivery drivers, guests, and even to shoo away a stray cat from my porch. It’s like having a conversation at your doorstep without opening the door.5. Night VisionThe infrared night vision is impressive. Even in complete darkness, I can see everything clearly, which gives me peace of mind knowing my home is secure 24/7.6. Compact and Sleek DesignThe doorbell looks modern and unobtrusive. It blends well with my home’s exterior and doesn’t scream “security camera,” which I appreciate.7. Integration with AlexaAs an Alexa user, I love that I can view the live feed on my Echo Show or Fire TV with just a voice command. It’s seamless and adds an extra layer of convenience.8. Affordable Cloud StorageThe optional Ring Protect Plan (starting at $3/month) is worth it for video recording and storage. It’s affordable and ensures I never miss a moment.Cons:1. Battery LifeWhile the battery life is decent, it does require recharging every few weeks, depending on usage. If you have a lot of activity at your door, you might find yourself charging it more often. Hardwiring is an option to avoid this issue.2. Wi-Fi DependencyThe doorbell relies heavily on a strong Wi-Fi connection. If your internet is slow or unreliable, you may experience delays or connectivity issues.3. No Local StorageThe lack of local storage means you’re dependent on the Ring Protect Plan for saving videos. It would be nice to have an SD card option for those who prefer not to pay for cloud storage.4. Limited Field of ViewThe 160-degree field of view is good, but it might not cover extremely wide areas. If you have a large porch or multiple entry points, you might need additional cameras for full coverage.5. Subscription for Advanced FeaturesWhile the basic features are great, some of the more advanced functionalities (like video history) require a subscription. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to keep in mind.Final Thoughts:The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) is a fantastic investment for anyone looking to enhance their home security. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and packed with features that make it worth every penny. While there are a few minor drawbacks, the pros far outweigh the cons. I feel much safer knowing I can monitor my front door from anywhere, and the peace of mind it provides is priceless. If you’re on the fence about buying it, I say go for it. You won’t regret it!Rating: 4.5/5Highly recommended!

good quality doorbell, Video could have been alittle better
Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen)Bought because Ive had issues for a few months now of people knocking on my door at stupid o'clock in the morning, or people going through an outside cupboard.Ive used a different brand which while was cheaper than the Ring version it became problematic after a short while and the video quality wasn't great for identifying faces. This Ring while not the best video quality has made it easier in identifying the prat causing the issue. The night vision was far better than my previous doorbell and the motion sensor caught everything on camera that i was able to pull out of the cloud save the video. The battery on the overhand is integrated into the doorbell im personally for a fan of this method as i would still need to remove the doorbell from time to time in order to recharge it however, there is a solar method that can be used in the future where it would charge and i wouldn't have to remove the whole doorbell so least there is a work around. So far though its been around a month or so now and the battery after a month usage was still showing 87%. This will also depend on the settings you use within the App which will depend on how long the battery will last within the device.I liked the fact you can edit your zone or have multiple zones so your detecting the area's you want and not where you don't need the camera to detect. This is a paid subscription service so all your videos will be stored within the cloud. You have a 30 subscription free service to test to see if its what you need.If you like the service there are 3 levels which can be used with each having a different level of access. The first being Motion-activated notifications , Live View and Two-way talk this is a free service with no access to your cloud storage so no video playback. The 2 levels of subscription do have the common features that most people will need like Video Saving and Sharing, Snapshot Capture, Package Alerts and Person Alerts, this does come at a price of £4.99 a month and this is the basic subscription. The Plus has all the benefits of the previous packages however, cost £8 a month with the extra care cover ofAdvanced Video Features, Enhanced Notifications, Extended Warranties for All Devices and some Assisted monitoring and Cellular backup for the Ring alarm feature.Overall the video quality is basic however, does the job needed, full features without the need to spend a ton of cash on professional level equipment. Price wise its affordable than others on the market the downside for most is the monthly subscription.

Do what is promised
These video doorbells are great. They are best if you pay for a subscription as then it records and keeps the videos, so you can see who was there. The app has lots of different settings and the doorbells are very reliable. Makes sense to also buy the electrical charger or solar charger too.
