Probably the nicest door/window sensor on the market
Using this with my Aeon Labs/Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5 and Home Assistant. From what I gather, this is a new product to the US. It seems that it's been around for a little bit in Europe, and luckily support for it has already been added to Open Z-Wave. In my setup, I am running Home Assistant on a PINE A64 Single Board Computer (like a more powerful Raspberry Pi) and Home Assistant uses Open Z-Wave to communicate with my Z-Wave network. The Z-Stick is my Z-Wave controller. So basically, as long as Open Z-Wave supports a module, it's supported in my setup.Anyway, the module itself is really nice. Construction is solid, and it's very very thin. Includes 2 magnets, one is for the inclusion process and the other as part of the sensor. The sensor and the magnet used both have adhesive pre-applied, so you simply clean the area, and stick. Pretty simple.Range is rated at 130-ft, which is quite a bit further than I needed. The sensor updates in less than a second, which is plenty quick enough for me to know if my front door gets opened.Only cons I can come up with is the fact that the battery is rated for 10 years, but the warranty is only 1 year, and the price. This is one of the most expensive door/window sensors on the market, if not the most expensive. I'm not saying it's not worth the cost, but it's expensive enough that I can't consider this a standard door/window sensor for all my exterior doors and windows in my house. It really is well made, though.Mine is mounted on my front door, which is solid wood with glass. It's the original door for my house, which is at least 70 years old. I was able to put the sensor on top of the door so it's not visible, and it works without issue.Really happy with it.

battery life is terrible
Original review (5/2018) This thing is rock solid. Paired very easily to my smartthings hub (others complained about having issues getting it paired but it worked perfectly for me, just as the instructions indicated). My only fear with this is the battery life, but I absolutely love that it is completely hidden. I mounted mine to the top of my door and it's completely invisible but works flawlessly. I will update in the future when my battery reads less than 100%. I really wish they used a small circular, but replaceable battery, as these devices are not cheap.Mine has never had a false "open" reading. I think those that are having those issues didn't mount it properly. The instructions are perfectly clear about how to mount it properly.Edit (1/3/19): battery is still at 100% and still works flawlessly. I’m hoping to purchase a few more when I can save up enough money.Update 10/31/21 - batteries are dead. They fail open. Waste of money as they don’t get anywhere near the 10 years they claim.

Very thin, but ultimately useless due to battery
I've gone through 2 of these sensors. My first one lasted just over 4 years, which is obviously less than stated but not terrible. My second one, only lasted 1 year and 3 months. Thats terrible. However, there isn't another sensor this thin and waterproof so I would say it could have its uses. Also its out of stock everywhere right now so they may have stopped making it. If the battery was replaceable or even rechargeable it would be nice. But a $40+ sensor that you may have to throw out after 15 months is pretty bad.

10 year battery is a false promise.
I wanted to like this product. I purchased 2, one for a sliding glass door and one for a regular door. I struggled with setting both of them up as the process to connect and disconnecting from a hub requires sliding a magnet over it a specified number of times and it only works correctly infrequently. I spent at least 2 hours on each one before they showed up in the hub. Once they connected, they worked great...until both batteries died in less than 2 years later...much less than the 10 years promised. Since you can't change batteries, they are now just trash. I also noticed that when installing over a steel door, connectivity was iffy at best.

Pricey, but good. When you need them you NEED them.
I have been putting together a security system that I can be 100% in charge of. That being said, I purchased multiple window/door sensors at the same time to see how well they performed and mix/matched them for different applications. I really wanted to love these because of their low profile. I had thought that I could put these anywhere and that being able to hide them would be a huge plus. So here we go:Pros:~These are thin. very thin. so you can put these in a lot of places you wouldn't be able to get other style sensors.~ The slim design also lets you hide these so there is not a unit siting on the window. This is very helpful because of a 3 year in the home who likes to pull and inspect the other system window sensors.~ Tough to set up, but once in place, they give the highest level of comfort for actual detection (over false positives)Cons:~ Cost. These were the most expensive of all the units I purchased for my windows and doors... by a decent amount.~ Battery life. Installed almost a year to the date and they are reading 32% battery life remaining. So based off this, I gauge the life of these to be about a year and a few months. Maybe a year and a half. The only problem I have with that is that these are a one time use. Once the battery is dead, the unit would need to be replaced. When you compare this to the other style units, which have a battery that you can replace, this becomes something to seriously consider~ Maybe not a CON, but on one of the units, about 6 months in, the glue backing failed. Have the sensor fell into the window and of course this caused the sensor to trigger at about 2am. Always make sure you inspect your system from time to time.Bottom Line: I really do like these and I do recommend them. These have a place in your home and system for sure, but they are a bit pricey (double other styles). I would purchase these again, but I would only be using them for those limited applications that only these slim profiles can get into.

Excellent Sensor, Long Battery Life.
I installed one of these on my front door when they first came out in 2015. My door is metal, but I replaced the small magnet that came with the strip with a more powerful rare earth magnet. Connected to my a OpenHAB home automation set up.Worked perfectly from then on, when the battery was down to 25% in 2019, I ordered a replacement, but the battery didn’t hit 0% until a year later. Even then it was still working, but I replaced it anyway. It is now connected to my ISY hub, feeding into OpenHAB.The new one was sitting on a shelf in my basement for a year, and reports 75% battery on install. Still, should last 4 years based on previous experience. So, on a fairly frequently used metal front door, I got 5 years use, and even then, the strip was still working when I replaced it.Overall, an excellent product.

Save your money!
Bought three of these and like everyone else they died after a year instead of the claim 10 years. In fact the 3rd unit I purchased came at 60% so I had the reseller replace it with fresh stock which arrived at 100%. Even it failed within the year. These are pure junk! Save your money and buy something else. It is too bad since these are perfect for patio and garden doors staying out of site. But as many others said they need a design revisit as the batteries fail too quickly for the price. Worth noting I didn’t arm the sensors except when leaving the home which was infrequent (retired). In closing I give these a rating of 1/5 and only because the idea has merit. The reseller was helpful with replacing the one unit so I would give them a 5/5 for service.

A lot to like, but a lot to dislike.
First the likes:Very thin, great for sliding closet doors.Very reliable (for as long as it lasted).Paired promptly with my Hubitat C-5.Unfortunately:It was very expensive for a contact sensor. I suppose I can live with that given the niche I required it for. This lasted 40 months in a warm, interior home environment. In my case the cost works out to $21/Year. If I had to spend that much on every contact sensor in my home, automation would not be affordable. These are just not practical in their current form. If it truly had a 10-year lifespan I would have few or no complaints.

Reliable product, easy intall
We have been using the Sensative Strips since 2018 and can say that they have been very reliable and are of high quality. We purchased a few home automation items from Home Tech Solution and can tell you that they stand behind their products and their customer aftercare was top notch.
