Great Deal on a New Book
The book was priced at a small percentage of the new cost and I figured that maybe the book was new but had been damaged in handling. Maybe the cover was scratched or torn or a few pages were folded. Since I was more interested in the contents and was going to transcribe the equations into MathCAD, the physical shape of the book was a minor consideration. The web scanned version had more than a few errors where the character recognition software had turned capacitors into capital "T"'s, etc., which is what brought me to Amazon in the first place. The book that arrived was "new". It took a while to finally recognize that the book's only reason for discount pricing was that it had been exposed to sunlight and the cover, which is bright yellow, had faded. . . Otherwise it was a new book in pristine condition, sharp corners, perfect condition excepting for the faded cover.I won't review the book but it was not as intensive in its coverage of numeric theory (compared to Zerev or Terman) as I had hoped. However, for the price, it is a bargain. Thanks Amazon!

A great introduction, and a complete bargain
I own many books by Randall W. Rhea, and they are all great. This book is no exception, it covers with easy to follow explanation many kinds of filters, I particularly used the section on lumped to distributed equivalences. This book can be bought for a really good price these days. However the computer simulation part is completely outdated, using a software called "SuperStar" or something like that. For a more recent point of view on filters using Genesys, I recommend Filter Synthesis Using Genesys S/Filter (Artech House Microwave Library (Hardcover)) from the same author.

Great introduction to microwave RF
Great tech book for engineer or technician. The title is misleading, because it is mainly concerned with microwave rf filters, not HF, but that is the publisher's fault not the seller's.

Excellent reference book
I have many books about filter design but this is one of my favourites and probably the one that I refer to most often. In particular, it has a very readable Chapter 4 on "Transformations", the tricks of the trade that filter designers often use.
