Perfect
I never normally like the .5's but this author is a true master of it and I enjoyed this one again immensely. Ro the point and including all the great moments to make it special.

Mishaps and love
Felix Duncan is a successful Edinburgh lawyer who also happens to be close friends with Andrew St James (newly discovered heir to the Duke of Carlyle). Felix and Drew were close from the time they were children when they were coached in golf and other sports by Drew’s father - back before Drew’s life fell apart. Drew’s sister Agnes had always caught his attention as children, but, as an adult, she mesmerizes him. He is totally smitten. Except, somehow, he seems to always put the wrong foot forward when it comes.Meeting Agnes at a local coffeehouse, Felix is completely smitten.Meeting Agnes at the assembly rooms and enjoying a night of drinking and flirting. Felix ends up compromising Agnes. The next morning he visits Agnes and makes the worse marriage proposal ever. Agnes rejects him and tells him she no longer wants anything to do him. After a series of mishaps, Felix realizes he has to work on regaining Agnes trust.During a visit to a local manor Agnes' family and few friends spend a couple weeks together exploring the area. Felix uses this time to find away back in good graces.A great companion novella with characters introduced in A Scot to the Heart.

Marvelous
A marvelous story. Andrew is a loving brother who would sacrifice anything for his family. Getting a surprise inheritance is the opportunity for him to make their life even easier. Ilsa is a widow who wants nothing more than to be able to enjoy the freedom she has been denied previously. The story shows how plans can change when you meet the right person. It also underscores how important the support of family and be. The characters are magnificent. The author shows how strong women can be and allows for the men to play an important supportive role that makes them a great partner. There is hilarity and witty conversations throughout. Truly beautiful.

Loved it!
Oooh! This book had all the feels! I loved reading Agnes and Felix’s story after having been introduced to their troubled romance in the last book. I really appreciated how their troubles were handled. Instead of being the usual Big Misunderstanding, this one made so much sense after how things had progressed between the two. I’d like to imagine that maybe Mrs St James and Lord Duncan fall in love as well. (I’m such a hopeless romantic!) This book was both very well written and well edited. (I only spotted two tiny editing errors.) All in all, this was a lovely story which I will doubtless be rereading often in the future.

Companion to A Scot to the Heart
This was a lovely story about Felix and Agnes. It coincides with the story of Drew and Isla that is found in A Scot to the Heart. After having read that book, where Feluz and Agnes are introduced, I was hoping that we would find out what their story was. I thoroughly enjoyed both books. Even though both can be read as a stand alone, they're better together.

a wonderful companion novella
There were glimpses of Agnes and Felix’s romance in “A Scot to the Heart” and this novella did not disappoint. It also was a reminder of the wonderful romance between Andrew and Ilsa.

Lovely read
Caroline Linden spins lovely, well-written stories. If you've read Scot to the Heart, you'll know some of the characters here. But this story stands alone as Agnes becomes better acquainted with her brother's childhood friend. This novella can be read in a few hours.
