Great introduction to ruby
Its a great introduction to the language as an experienced programmer I'm still really enjoying it. Its small enough to bring around and is a great addition to the odin project ruby course, and the exercism ruby track.

Great to start from scratch (Advanced and Beginers)
1- If you have experience programming in other languages and just want to know the basic starting ruby syntax, then -> it's perfect, you will finish in few hours. And get ready for the next step Ruby on Rails2- Else If you don't have experience with other programming languages but you have a "logic mind" Then -> this book is perfect too you'll finish in a couple of days.3- Else you will love this book, very short, directly to the point, very basic examples, installing ruby on Mac, Linux, Windows. Don't expect be a Guru with this book, this book is good if you want to know the basis, later you can get an another advanced ruby book, ruby on rails.... etc.End If

Nice Little Ruby Taster
I already have a good knowledge of general programming concepts. What I wanted form this was a quick run through of the Ruby syntax and any pitfalls worth noting. This book helped me with that very nicely.I bought a physical copy. It was printed and bound in the UK by Amazon. The paper and pages are nice. The binding is good and it doesn't feel like it will fall apart like some self-published print-on-demand books do. No complaints. The content of the book covers installing, writing and executing Ruby scripts on Linux and Window. It has a corresponding section for each system in each chapter. Code is presented as pseudocode with an explanation, followed by a fully functional example written in Ruby script. What this book does not do is tell you any best practices, why following best practices is a good idea, how using a version manager will make your life easier, why using a local install for development is safer and more practical than using the system wide installation, how to install and manage ruby-gems, why installing gems as a superuser is a big no-no, or anything about the standard Ruby library. In conclusion, I feel this book was supposed to be a brief taster. In that regard I'd give it five stars. I've deducted 1 star because it doesn't point the reader in a useful direction should they wish to continue with the subject.
