Awesome
A delight to read and to listen to. My daughter loves it and so I bought another for a friend’s kids. Sharing’s caring.

Usual Julia Donaldson quality. Loved it.
My Grandson is a keen fan of Julia Donaldson stories and I was over the moon to find one he didn’t have. I loved the story, as did he because there was a tractor in it.

"Old Macdonald had a Farm" meets Disney’s Aladdin
Old Macdonald had a farm, and on that farm he had a teapot, and in that teapot lived a teeny weeny blue genie who just wanted some peace and quiet. But when Old Macdonald decides to do a bit of spring cleaning, the teeny weeny genie’s peaceful life goes out the window. Soon Old Macdonald wishes for wife, and soon Mrs MacDonald wishes for a baby and Baby Macdonald wishes for a dog, who wishes for a cat, who wishes for mice and soon Old Macdonald’s farm becomes SUPER noisy! There is a joyful balance of wacky wishes and the traditional nursery rhyme onomatopoeia. So much so, that at one point, my little girl broke into song and began singing Old Macdonald had a farm and pointing to all the different animals.Like with the mish-mash of nursery rhyme and Aladdin, there is also a blend of prose and rhyming text. My daughter and I absolutely loved the genie’s rhyming spells, particularly: “ABC and XYZ, Cauliflower cheese and chocolate spread”!The question is, will the teeny weeny blue genie ever get a break from granting wishes, and find some peace and quiet? Aladdin’s magic carpet might not make an appearance in this story, but as the cover suggests, maybe there is a way he could somehow him fly away…Teeny Weeny Genie is a charming fresh take on the cautionary theme “be careful what you wish for”. Children will absolutely love the connections to the beloved nursery rhyme, Old Macdonald had a farm. The rhyming passages and wacky wishes are hilarious and delightful! We loved it.Book reviewed on PictureBookPerfect.*I received a complimentary copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed. This review contains my honest unbiased opinion.

Disappointed Julia
Disappointing. Big build up at bed time, for a bit of a let down. Not the strong moral story I hoped it would be.. Grandchildren 5+7 were a bit underwhelmed but we did discuss the underlying theme of the story which was good.

I wouldn’t call it magical? 😔
My children were very excited about a book With a genie in it... however it’s not as fun as they thought it would be. And on the last page you could tell that they were like... hmmm is that it??...Basically everyone wishes for lots of noisy things. It’s very loud, the genie doesn’t like the noise so goes to live on a beach with another genie.... the end?!

Noisy, wish-filled fun
Old Macdonald had a farm - so far so familiar. But did you know that on that farm he had a teapot? And in that teapot he had a genie? Well Old Macdonald didn't either, and this is the story of what happened once he knew he did. This story is packed with chaotic, wish-filled fun! There's lots of opportunity to make noise throughout, and I can see it working well in nurseries and classrooms thanks to all the onomatopoeia.I enjoyed the rhyming letter spells, which were fun to read aloud. This was a silly, sweet story which my three-year-old really enjoyed. Everybody (or everything!) wanted to wish for something, and I'm pleased the genie got his own wish granted at the end.Currey's artwork is lovely, with pretty farm yard backdrops, colourful characters and plenty of magic.Thank you Macmillan Children's Books for sending me a copy to review
