Q: How do I open it to replace the batteries? Little square on bottom doesn't want to move.

There is a small screw on the bottom that has to be removed in order to open the battery compartment.

Q: are their replacement lights for these ?

As far as I know there's not any I hope this helps

Q: Does it just light up or does snow move around too?

It lights up with a number of tiny lights. No snow.
