Well worth owning.
I have a lot of these type of books. I especially like this one because of the guide that comes before the recipes. The presentation was simple and easy to follow. It was insightful. And encouraging. I got a lot out of it. The recipes are also good. Not the same as all the rest. Of all the books I own on this subject this is the one I’d buy as a gift for a beginner. Or get it if you’re stuck. And read the beginning carefully even though you think you’ve heard it all before. I hope you get as much out of it as I did.

User-friendly, comprehensive guide to making healthy eating a lifestyle.
This Paleo cookbook and guide is helping me make healthy, mindful eating a daily practice instead of a short-lived diet. In this book, Alison explains how to use food as medicine AND how to make this a sustainable part of your life. Other cookbooks I’ve used were overwhelming-the recipes felt too cumbersome for my busy schedule, the ingredients were hard to get a hold of and often went to waste. When the diet ended, I still didn’t understand what to eat, why, or how food connected to the symptoms that would inevitably resurface. That’s what sets this book apart- it teaches you and gives you tools like grocery lists (one of my favorite parts), as well as meal plan and recipe templates to put you in charge of not just cooking- but your health. So far, I’ve loved the recipes I’ve tried (especially the sweet and sour meatballs with cauliflower rice and salmon with bok choy). I can’t wait to use this book to meal prep this weekend.Trust your gut and give this book a try!

Great addition to my cookbook addiction, I mean collection!
-Everything I have made has tasted delicious and even my picky husband has enjoyed the meals- very approachable recipes that have a reasonable amount of ingredients (the number one reason many of my cookbooks don't get often used).- Most recipes have pictures and food photography is nicely done and gets you excited about making the dish.-Recipes that I have tried have been easy prep and quick to make (I have two kids under 2 and need healthy recipes that dont complicate my life any further)- The information about digestion in the beginning of the book is really great, practical, and can help anyone on their healing journey.Would definitely recommend buying this if you need uncomplicated healthy meals that taste good. I do not have an autoimmune disease or any major gut issues but bought the book because I know the importance of good gut health.(Food in Pictures)-Smoked Salmon Salad with Jammy Eggs-Meat Hash with Kale and Cabbage-Crispy Roasted Chicken Thighs with Salsa Verde

Good Starter/Intro Book to the AIP Diet
There is so much to google and read about with the AIP diet. I purchased this book on recommendation as a starter book for somebody who is just learning. I liked the introduction and explanations in the first chapter. There is a 2 week meal plan in the last chapter. The book is well thought out and beautifully presented. I like that there is also a dessert chapter! I have already made a few, and coconut custard pie is my fav so far. I am very much looking forward to making and consuming more meals from this book.

Adding variety to my AIP diet!
I have pretty much every AIP cookbook out there and find that many of them run one of two directions: fairly basic recipes or very complicated. I love that this cookbook brings new flavor profiles to the table with Puerto Rican and Mediterranian-inspired flavors. Alison's recipes remind me of Jamie Oliver's; both approach healthy eating by embracing anti-fussy cooking methods and playing with unique flavors and textures. It's also taught me a few new tricks along the way, for example, the 'cheese' sauce is the best I've come across (as others are too sweet) and is now a weekly staple. I've tried about 15 recipes so far and love every one of them.If you're new to gut healing, the beginning of this book has a great pre-cursor to the world of the gut-brain axis, which I don't know if I've seen in any other books. Alison's got you covered: This one is a keeper!

SIMPLE but so delicious and healing!
LOVE the recipes that Alison put together for this cookbook. Longtime fan, but having a physical cookbook to run to when I need some healing and yummy recipes is priceless! Alison simplifies what feels normally complicated when it comes to nourishing your body. She understands the struggle because she has had her own health journey. These recipes are made and taste tested with love. Thank you Alison for such an informative and beautiful cookbook!

Basic Paleo recipes with some surprises
This is a pretty book on the outside, but when I opened it up I was left wondering who thought it was a good idea to print all the recipes in the smallest font possible. This is not friendly to anyone with vision issues, nor is it convenient for people that don’t have vision issues but are reading along as they’re cooking in the kitchen. So many pages are 3/4 empty, even with the recipe on them because the font is so tiny.I do like that the author included a two week meal plan if you’re new to Paleo. I think that’s a super useful guide to anyone that’s questioning where to start, along with the Paleo shopping list provided.I’ll be honest and say I’m not strict with my eating, and I don’t stick to any single plan. I just like to eat whole foods, minimize processed things as much as possible, and listen to my body as it tells me what it likes and craves.I look to recipe books for ideas and inspiration, and always use them as guides to create meals that work for my whole family. This is called a cookbook, but I found that the first half of the book was not recipe focused and can come off as a little preachy. I appreciate the author wanting to give us an opportunity to learn about the Paleo diet, but I don’t think was done well. I would’ve preferred more interesting recipes to fill those pages instead.I liked some of the Latin inspired recipes in the book, and that there seemed to be a variety of meals, snacks, and drinks to give you inspiration when you’re lacking it.
