The Sprigs Sunshade is an attachment made for your hat. It was built to provide sun protection and cooling during an activity where you are in the sun and you need extra protection that your hat alone doesn't provide. The fabric is built with UPF 45+ which means that it blocks out 98% of the harmful rays from the sun. The hat shade fabric is also made with a cooling fabric that is activated whenever sweat or water makes contact with it. Making you feel 30% cooler than the air outside. The hat shade is the perfect companion for a fishing hat, baseball cap, and even your favorite beach hat.

Ingenious Idea, quality materials and workmanship, but not long enough to work as designed.
I so wanted to love this. It appeared to be everything I wanted: Protection for my neck when wearing crew neck shirts while fishing, a wettable cooling fabric, and the ability to wear it with different hats.I was thrilled when I saw the material was split at the top in the back for the adjuster. I tied a small loop of my own elastic cord around the drape's cord, and simply threaded the adjuster of my cap through the loop, and VOILA! it was now attached to my cap, so when taking my cap off I wouldn't lose it. This also made it SO much easier to put my cap and the drape back on without a mirror, by keeping it perfectly centered while I put the front back down over the cap. I also love how you can adjust the coverage on the sides of your face.My excitement was short-lived, however, when I discovered that the person who spec'd out this product had a very short neck. The pics are misleading. You see, in real life you don't just put it on, adjust it down over your neck and not move. You would move! Unfortunately, when you turn your head or look down, the drape comes forward and bunches around the base of your neck, leaving the lower part of your neck exposed! Sadly, when you turn back to the original position, lift your head back up, the drape stays bunched up. Why couldn't they have made it 2 or 3 measly inches longer? How much more could that have cost? Heck, I would have paid the extra money for a longer one, because if it was longer it would not fall forward, and if it did, at least the bunched up material would be thicker, so it would still cover your neck. For example, the Coolibar Trailhead Neck Drape is longer, and doesn't expose your neck when you turn, or look down, however, it is not adjustable like the Sprigs drape so it's not a winner, either. If the Sprigs drape was longer, you would be able to actually use the front snaps, too, without it being pulled forward away from the back of your neck.On the same topic, if the Sprigs drape also had small slits at the bottom like the drape that comes on the Outdoor Research Sun Runner cap has, it probably would be more ergonomic, and not fall forward and gather around your neck.I am so disappointed. I am not a tall or large person, by any means. I am male, 5'9", 175 lbs., so it's not like I have a big or long neck. I can't imagine it working for anyone other than people with really short necks. Like I said, I would have had no problem paying more for a longer Sprigs drape, but in its current iteration it just doesn't protect the average neck without constantly having to adjust it. If Sprigs is listening, and wants to make a longer one, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but they probably aren't. I've been looking for something for quite some time, and it looks like I might have no choice but to make something myself. If I do, you can bet I will make it just like the Sprigs drape, but longer. As you might have guessed, I sadly returned it.

Nice to keep Sun off, BUT....
Great for getting the sun from burning up your neck especially on those summer days. It’s lightweight and breathable, BUT the only problem I have with it is that its not long enough to cover the whole back of the neck. Wish it were a tad bit longer from the back.

Works perfectly
I spend a lot of time in the warm months mowing and trimming but as I'm getting older I'm much more conscientious about sun exposure (I'm a 66-year-old female). I usually wear a large visor and plenty of mineral sunscreen but I recently saw a picture of a cloth protecting the back of the neck and ears of a friend while she and her family were fishing. So I looked on amazon and found this protective shade that works perfectly over my visor. I can adjust it so it covers my ears or I can slide it back a bit further behind the ears. Either way, it's a perfect way to protect my skin, plus I feel it is actually cooler than having the sun hit my neck (I ordered the white shade). Definitely 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

Fits ball cap
This UV shield is not quite as long over the neck as it appeared. However, I'll keep it as it provides sufficient coverage. I wet it to get some cooling effect. The material is very light weight, so even with just walking and practically no breeze, I snapped it in front to keep it in place. It fits a ball cap nicely. Any other hat with a brim will make it too short.

Only for Baseball Caps
The strap in the front is an aggressive rubber band strap that you wouldn't want around your head. Unless you like indentations in your forehead. Also, this will not work on hats with brims. The fabric will barely reach the back and sides of a brim hat. It's for baseball caps only. For that purpose, it works just fine. For anything else, it's not so good. Hence the four stars, not five. Seems well made.

Really helps
I purchased this not to block the sun but for work...on my ball cap... to stop the grease from falling onto my hair (that the baseball cap doesn't cover) and to keep the crap that flies around in the air from getting on my hair. It works, I no longer have to 'scrub' all that stuff off my hair. Helps keep my neck and ears cleaner too.

Protection from the sun while you wear your favorite hat
Ok, here is the skinny... This is a really cool product because you can wear your favorite hat. I'm a Cubs fan and cringe at wearing another hat (wide brimmed). I found it very useful when fishing, camping, doing yardwork, working on my really old suburban, etc. And, it is not hot to wear (for me). I know it is keeping my precious ears and neck protected.

LOVE THIS!
I don't even know I'm wearing it. It keeps the sun off my ears and neck, which is exactly what I wanted. It drapes nicely and doesn't get in the way. The wind came up today and, sure enough, the snap helped keep it on my head. HIGHLY recommend.
