Nice dehydrator at a great price
I am very happy with this dehydrator. It is large, so it takes up a lot of space on the counter. I have it on a rolling cart that I roll out when I use it. It has a wide temperature range that's handy for a wide variety of foods. The controls are easy to understand and use, just a few buttons and a digital display. The heat and air are distributed fairly well inside the compartment. I regularly check the food on the 10 shelves to see if I need to rotate them and they seem to dry at a fairly consistent rate on all the shelves. I had a problem with my unit a few months after I purchased it. I contacted ChefWave through their website and got a response the next day. Devorah contacted me and asked if I could send a few photos of the issue. I sent them in and was told the next day that they would send a replacement unit out immediately. I appreciate great customer service almost as much as great products, so this meant a lot to me. I have a tough time going back to a company that doesn't stand behind their products no matter how good their reputation is. I highly recommend this product.

Not as advertised
This is a nice dehydrator and works great so far. However, the description says it includes two mesh trays and three teflon sheets. The box I received only had one teflon sheet rolled up in a plastic bag and no mesh sheets. Also, the trays are not 15.5" x 15.5" as the description says. They're 15.5" x 15" which means you have to watch how you insert them into the machne. Part of the reason I purchased this particular dehydrator was because it was supposed to have square trays.I shopped for a dehydrator for a long time before choosing this one. I'm happy with the functionality of the dehydrator. So far I've used it mostly to dehydrate vegetables. It does a great job and doesn't take as long as I expected it would. As some folks have mentioned, the screen doesn't turn off if the unit is plugged in and not in use. That does not bother me since I unplug it and store it when I'm not using it.If I had received what was described I would have given this five stars. I took one off for the misinformation on the rack size and one for the missing mesh and teflon sheets.Update: I purchased this dehydrator in 2022, used it six times and was very happy with it. 2023 comes around and I used it once successfully. The second time I tried to use it the heater apparently failed. It produced no heat no matter what I set the temp at. Checking out the reviews since my purchase I see that other reviewers have had similar experiences - the CW-FD10 seems to die shortly after the 1-year warranty expires. One reviewer noted that using high temps may contribute to shortening the life of the unit. The last time I used it successfully I did leave it at 158 degrees for 10 minutes before lowering the temp 113. I don't know whether the heater died or the high heat killed something in the electronic control of the heater. The fan works fine. Setting the temp to anything has no effect.i'm removing two more stars. For what I paid I should certainly get more than seven uses out of this ChefWave device. This was my first purchase of a ChefWave product. It's also my last.

if this dehydrator lasts its a home run, well it didn’t last the front window fell off
I process a lot of meat, snack sticks, jerky and fruit, in the past I was using 2 American harvester dehydrators, , a real pain in the a-- to clean, this thing is great, easy to clean and the timer makes it almost impossible to over cook. my first batch was 10 lbs of snack sticks, they came out great in less time, again if it lasts its worth every cent. so far I give it a 10!! i also use it to dry meat and sausage before i smoke it

Get an extended warranty and you’ll be set. They tend to go bad after a year or two of use.
I bought two of these. One of them still works. I’ve tried other brands that broke after one year as well. I noticed that the ones that broke I had them on max heat for jerky. The veggie one that remained lower temp still works. I think the high heat messes with the electrical components. They just went completely dead or the fan stops working. It might be as simple as re-saudering the connections but it’s best to get a warranty with these.

Lovely workhorse of a dehydrator
I bought 45 mangoes and they are ripe now and I have been dehydrating some, and I am making fruit leather which also goes into the dehydrator. I tasted one fruit leather. A burst of edible sunshine. I love this. I waste much less food. If I buy too many jalapeno peppers or bell peppers or I get a large box of Roma tomatoes in my food bank box...I don't let them go to waste. I quickly prepare them and dehydrate them for a later use. Think: Sun dried tomatoes without the sun and with tomatoes that would have gone bad if I had not fixed them right away and dried them. As far as this particular dehydrator--I couldn't have picked a better one. This dehydrator is made of all stainless steel...all the 10 trays are stainless too. This baby will last a lifetime. It is made like America used to make appliances, to last almost forever. My advice--pay more this time and get the best. You won't regret it. And I am a real miser, so I hardly EVER pay more to get the most expensive. But sometimes it pays to shell out a bit more.
