Works as advertised, for the most part
The most important feature I needed was having at least 2 outgoing messages - one for daytime hours ("We're here, just can't come to the phone...", one for after-hours ("We're closed, leave a message."). And for that purpose it works perfectly. Switching between messages is very easy - just push one button. Surprisingly, having two messages is a rare feature on answering machines - which are, themselves, rare. The only other one on Amazon that does this is over $200 so this is a great deal. The only complaint, the sound is a little tinny, which is amusing given the name of the device. But it works very well, and does it at a good price.

Sound was not clear
This product was very disappointing. The sound quality was poor and the amplification was not adequate.

Below Standard
I purchased this machine to be used by a hard of hearing family. Set up was quick and recording an announcement message was also easy. However, the performance of the unit is very poor. The voice is very Robotic, speaker is small and the speed control (ability to slow speech down) works poorly. Gain functions as stated but a loud voice does not equate to improved comprehension. Overall the unit is not up to par and function more poorly than the old unit. The unit is presented as "ClearSounds" but doesn't measure up.

Great; just consider the technology, and age of the machines, don't expect studio quality audio.
Bought this, it works perfectly! I can't complain, it lives up to it's claims. The audio, although people say is unclear have to realize that this is old tech, don't expect studio grade microphones or speakers coming out of this. The quality of the recording of the OGM (outgoing message) depends entirely on the environment, and level and distance of the source of the voice. Too close will cause your voice to clip, too far will not record properly. In terms of loudness, it's definitely very loud.Build quality wise, this was not made for large businesses, obviously the quality is mainly plastic. It was made for a home single user. As long as you don't drop it or drop anything on it, it should last for a long time. You can only hook up one phone line to it.I suggest reading the manual thoroughly before operating so you know what to expect, and you don't get frustrated at it. I read through the manual first, and had no frustrations operating or setting up the machine.Compared to the readily available AT&T (I owned a 1740 black model) and V-tech standalone Answering machines, I think I prefer this one.
