Lovely statue, awful packaging
My son is a huge fan of gothic art, so we were delighted to recive this beautiful statue, It stands approx 8-9 inches high, and has some weight to it. It is beautifully cast and hand painted, and the sword, although intended to be decorative, can be used as a letter opener. The blade itself is blunt, but the tip is very sharp indeed, so be careful if buying for a child. This looks great when displayed, and compared to similar resin/hand painted items, represents very good value for money. In fact the only downside was the packaging it came in, which consisted of two pieces of very crumbly polystyrene inside a carboard box. It made a lot of mess!! Otherwise this item is highly recommended, and has made a great addition to my son's collection.

Striking beautiful piece
I really like this, I've got nothing quite like it in the house. It's a very detailed, quite beautiful sparkly purple/pink dragon atop a n evil looking black skull, holding a large sword which is piercing the skull. It's very much gothic horror fantasy in its look and it looks really great wherever I've put it. Very striking visual piece of art for a bookcase.

Sharply Detailed, Brilliant Color
Forgetting the subject matter and focusing on product quality, this statue is an example of high quality resin bonded crushed stone casting. There are no telltale seams and the textural details look great with a high level of detail. The hand painting is precise, very sharp, and the predominant color is bright, shiny and bold. The subject matter, a Savage Gothic Dragon, probably isn't everyone's design style, but if it's a dragon statue that you're looking for, this is a fabulous representation. Then there's the added bonus of the dragon holding a real metal saber to open mail. It's decorative AND functional. Any dragon lover or WoW, GOT, D&D, Terra and/or Harry aficionado would love to find a place of prominence at their workstation for this and let their geek flag fly. It would certainly work in a room with a fantasy theme, although I'd hesitate to put it in the room of someone too young to trust with a mini-sword.

my daughter loves it
This gothic dragon statue is exactly as pictured (as long as you realize it's just 12 inches high, including the sword), and my daughter loves it. The point of the sword is quite sharp, so it's perfect for letter opening.Quick notes on sword position -One of the dragon's hands is half-open, so you can slide the sword through it, then it balances atop a "crack" in the top of the skull. We were confused because it seems like it should slide in further, but it actually rests as pictured, with just the tip of the sword on the top of the skull. Alternatively, you can slide the sword through the same hand, and it will rest at about a 45 degree angle, with the tip on the side of the skull
