Q: Does this work as well as the Sorestro collar??

No...quit working after 3 weeks. It comes with two collars be package and both quit working after 3 weeks. Itchy dogs and fleas. Went back to Soresto.

Q: Will this work on a dog with thick hair?

The Salvo Collars are working well on my English Springer Spaniels. Their coats are thick for this breed. Well worth the money!
