This roll has a selection of pre-sharpened soft sketching pencils with 5 each of 2B and 4B, and 2 each of 6B and 8B. There's only one HB and a 2H plus three charcoal pencils (soft, medium & hard). The pack also contains a basic craft knife for sharpening, an extender for holding pencil stubs and 3 sizes of blending sticks. There are two erasers - a soft plastic one and a horrible grey squishy one - but I replaced them with my preferred white Stabilo eraser. The pencils are fine to work with and so far haven't broken.The case itself is a synthetic canvas roll with PVC trim and although functional is rather cheap looking. The pencils are held with an elastic strap and are easy to take in and out. The tips are protected by a layer of PVC. It's useful for keeping pencils neatly together but I wouldn't use it to take my pencils out sketching as who needs to take 5 of the same grade of pencils? The roll is fastened with a strap with a popper but there's only one popper so you can't adjust the tightness of the roll as you can with a tied roll and this one doesn't roll up very compactly.Overall it's an OK set but I don't love it and I definitely couldn't recommend it for children due to the inclusion of a knife unless you replace it with a pencil sharpener.

This Erkoon sketching set is great for beginner artists and those looking for an inexpensive set to travel around with.This comes with a wide range of pencil lead hardness and it has duplicates of the most common leads, a roll to carry them all in, a pencil extender for when pencils run down, blending stumps, a hard and soft eraser and a craft knife to sharpen everything.All the items seem to be of a reasonable quality and when I sharpened the pencils none of the leads seems cracked or brittle.The only weakness in the set is the craft knife as it feels very flimsy and lightweight and I felt a little apprehensive using it in case the blade snapped. If you replaced this item with something more durable, then you'd have a decent little starter set.This is worth considering if you are new to art and has enough range of graphite pencils to get your started on shading techniques and the roll makes it easy to transport and store.

I have the smaller of the sets available (28 pieces) but, for me, had more than I would want in. With a range of pencils from 2H to 8B, charcoal ranging from soft to hard and both a hard and kneadable eraser. The are paper pens of a variety of thicknesses. I don’t think much of the pencil extender but, if you use them there is one, and the craft knife is a bit flimsy and cheap but does the job. I particularly like the wraparound storage bag. For the price a decent pencil set.
