Really impressive results - better than I expected.
It accurately digitally recreates your artwork - colour accuracy is on point. I was concerned about 800 dpi being too low a limit as printers and A4 scanners can reach 2000+ dpi but i haven’t seen any issues in quality. It picks up the texture of brush strokes well and you have to zoom in a fair bit before it starts to look pixelated. If you want to make faithful prints of your artwork for resale - I feel this does it. It struggles recreating metallic paints - but I imagine any scanner would as they would convert shimmery surfaces to flat colours. Not a massive fan of the design aesthetic - looks a bit like early 90s bulky tech- but an a3 scanner will be big. Also wish it would connect to laptops wirelessly but pros significantly outweigh cons.

Does the job I brought it for
I use this to scan my art work ready for printers. It seems to pick the colours up well and you don’t have to wait too long for the picture to come up on your computer. I edit the pics after with other software but it depends what you want to do as the scanner gives editing options which seem very good.

Very pleased.
My initial impression is that this is very good. The control panel gives you excellent control, it is simple to use, and the end results are excellent. I did have one problem with getting the results I wanted, but putting the question to them quickly supplied the answer I needed.

PlusTek support / scanner doesn’t work
Have not been able to get the scanner to work since I bought it.I’ve raised about five separate tickets via their customer support and they keep closing them before the issue is resolved. The one thing they suggested didn’t work so I sent screenshots and have heard nothing for over a week now.I will try one last time and then I’m going to ask for my money back.

Quality is hard to beat, if you need that level of detail, but big and heavy as a result
There’s no getting around it, this flatbed scanner is a bit of a beast. If you don’t need it’s specific capabilities, save your money and space and check out some of the other top rated scanners (or printer scanners) from Plustek - they are generally top quality.A flatbed scanner is probably unnecessary for many these days when a document scanner will do a great job. Where this scanner excels it’s in its ability to scan delicate items like old posters and photos without bending them and damaging them. It can scan anything with a textured surface and retain the detail, and the colour rendering is truly some of the best I’ve seen.I use the scanner to digitise hand drawn or painted items that I then enhance or incorporate into digital designs to sell online, eg greetings cards, surface patterns etc. The quality needs to be good - and it is. It picks up beautifully the subtle marks from watercolours and the texture of brushstrokes from other media like acrylic.I found it simple to install from the CD, but it would be easier to just download this all I think! I’m using Windows 10 and had no issues. The quick action buttons are handy and warm up time was really minimal before scanning. The OCR function is probably not something I will use loads, but it was very effective.I think the only drawback with this scanner is simply the size - it’s much bigger and in some cases twice the weight of other A3 flatbed scanners. So definitely worth considering as an option, but only if you really need the high quality scanning it offers.

Impressive results but very big and bulky
The scanner comes with a power lead and plug, USB lead to connect to the computer and all the software needed along with a quick start guide. It is also important before first use you pull a switch underneath which is a lock as the scanner won't without pressing this. There is a power button on the left hand side to switch it on.This is a really good scanner with a few drawbacks, the first being it's size. I know it's for A3 but its a very chunky thing, the shortcut buttons on the right don't help either as they are big. You need a big desk space for this or you can just put it away until you need it and then bring it out when required. The second drawback is software, it comes with the software required on CD but many computers now don't have drives. Thankfully you can download from the internet, however for me the OCR software didn't install so I went and found my external drive and loaded the software via cd. The installation also feels a little old and cumbersome, not the best user experience. This has a lot of settings in the software and can scan up to 800 dpi, the results of the scan are very good, much better than other scanners I have used, nice crisp images and colour reproduction. There are markings on the scanner to show you where to line up various sizes. It gives some very impressive results and it is very fast at scanning, though can be a little noisy. All you do to operate is open up the software and then press the shortcut button on the left of the scanner for the type of scanning you require, though rather than numbers it would have been nice to have their functions written on. For example 4 does OCR scanning and 7 scans the document inside it. It's really easy to use, very simple and straight forward. It is a very well built and solid scanner with impressive results but wow this thing is big and bulky, if you need an A3 scanner though and don't mind the bulk this works pretty well.
