does the job well. Configure it once, then forget it's even there.
Unit works very well. My layout is NCE based, so programming was a little tricky. Also note: Unless your layout is Digitrax based, you can only power the unit from rail power which draws from your total DCC output. This is not clearly stated in the manual. I mistakenly powered the unit up externally and fried it within a month (my mistake). $16 to repair. Since I wired it from rail power, no issues.

Great DCC product
I have a medium sized HO layout (12X22 in an E shape) and I run Digitrax for all my engines and switches, this little machine can run 4 straight switches or up to 8 combined. You can program routes (setting a group of switches to run the train to different tracks using a single command.) Model Railroading is not a cheap hobby, I started in 1960 with an Atheren train set, and now I am 66 and still enjoying it. If you are getting started in DCC, this puppy is a great way to go.Todd DulaneyCanton, Ohio

I'm using this to control turnouts(3). Worked out of the box without incident. I'm going to need lights on the turnouts to tell how there set.

Works perfectly
Using it with Hornby Railmaster. Works perfectly. Connected it to three sets of Backmann turnouts and it works them every time. No issues

Love Digitrax
We have an all Digitrax layout. This decoder works very well for our tortoise switch machines. I have a total of 3.

Awesome Product!
This stationary decoder does more than you would think for the money. It will or can control (4) solenoid turnouts, or tortoise machines. It also connects to the Loconet bus for computer control through software (JMRI) and can report occupancy to the network with the addition of either optical or current sensing detectors. So if you might just be getting into DCC this is a must add on to the command station. These can be powered by the track (A,B) connections but it is highly recommended to us a PS14 to supply it . My layout has two loops, two sidings, eight switches, sixteen blocks and uses (4) DS64's. Two of the DS64's control the eight switches along with block detection and the other two DS64's are for reporting the block detection only.
