So far so good
Living on top of a mountain with a fire towerโฆ just to give you an idea of my lightning strike danger. Storms the last 2 nights have caused the power to go out momentarily. This was recommended to me by another fire lookout who has lived on the same mountain. She advised that when the power comes back to the panel Iโm plugged into, the protector does a 3 minute check before power comes back to the trailer. So I lost power for 3 minutes (not a problem) and feel so much better than if I were raw dogging electricity to my sweet little trailer.Iโm happy so far and feeling a little more secure in my situation.

Works as desinged
Unit works great. Hopefully you don't need it. But whatever the case don't loose your receipt or there is not warranty even via serial numbers.

Great unit
This is the second one of these I have bought. If the electric hook up is not right it will not allow power to go to your rv, thus saving a lot of headaches. I have found bad wiring all over the country with this unit.

Heavy Duty
I picked this unit after discovering that most others are "non-resetting" (eg They are only single-use); where-as this one Auto-resets like a circuit breaker.I like that this one has an easy-to-read-display that includes Line Voltage and Amps Drawn... Which makes it easy to discern the "Load" my RV is drawing. This is a BIG unit, and probably best to not "Hang" it simply via the plug... In my case I added a "Arm" from the post holding my electrical box, and his unit "Sits" atop that to hold the weight. Trying to hang it by just the plug will "maybe" will result in the unit unplugging.

Great EMS for RVs! Size could be a concern depending on placement.
We bought our first RV (previously used parents' RV) and the first recommended purchase everyone has is: "Get a surge protector!" We purchased the EMS-LCHW50 with the built in display. Those who are a bit more familiar with appliances/electronics know that a surge is not the only condition that can wreak havoc on these devices. This "surge protector" is the complete package (hence the EMS). We decided to go the hardwired route. For one, this unit is less expensive than it's portable counterparts and, for two, it is field serviceable in the event of a surge.I did perform the install myself and it can be tackled by a DIY'er that is knowledgeable of electrical wiring. There are a few videos out there (including some from Progressive Industries) that do a decent job of walking you through the install steps, but if you have any doubts, definitely contact a licensed electrician as a mishap could result in costly repairs. Average consumers may not have all of the appropriate tools (cable cutter, heavy gauge wire stripper, heavy gauge terminal crimper) on-hand to perform the install. One challenge with the 50A models is trying to make connection with the contactor in such a small space, especially with the "donuts" that have to be installed. Most install videos show the 30A models which are quite spacious in comparison. Please take into consideration the install location (this will be dependent on where your main connection to shore power is located). Mine is inside the bathroom cabinet and the cabinet has a very shallow depth. You may find this unit too deep to fit inside of a tight space. LCHW models (w/ built-in display) will not allow you to add remote display (plan to go with the HW##C model if you'd like this). If you're installing behind an access panel or a location that is difficult to access, I would recommend the HW##C model with the remote display. If the mounting location is easily accessible, or if you're mounting inside an outdoor storage compartment, the LCHW model may be a little cleaner.Pros:Can perform install yourself if sufficiently inclinedAll around protection from electrical anomaliesDisplay shows error codes when issues arise and it always shows current, voltage, frequency for each lineField serviceableLess expensive than portable modelsLittle/No concerns regarding theft or leaving hardwired model behind at the campsite.Cons:Tight quarters inside the unit for wiring 50A modelsUnit is quite deep and could prohibit install in tight spacesNo flexibility to add a remote display to LCHW modelsReplacement surge board does not appear to be readily available for purchase without contacting manufacturer. I'd love to have a backup on-hand in the event of a surge so that I don't have to bypass and go unprotected if I have a few more days of camping to go.**Note for those with generators**This unit will throw an error for generators that do not have a bonded neutral. One solution is to bypass the EMS (Progressive Industries makes a convenient bypass switch that you can add to the hardwired EMS units). Another is to bond your generator.

Excellent product
Not the least inexpensive or most expensive offering on the market , a mid price point unit with the features of much more expensive offerings , and blows away the less expensive offerings from manufacturers of inferior quality, had all the features of much more pricey offerings with the bonus of being produced from a well respected name in the industry for producing superior electronics protection for sensitive electronics.

invaluable piece of mind
not all electrical connections at campgrounds are the same ... and buying this may seem expensive, but the time, cost, and hassle of just one surge messing with the trailer's electrical system is more than worth it.The only reason it didn't get a full 5 stars overall is that the cover too easily comes off when you lift it to plug in the 30A chord. And I would have preferred the eyelet to secure it to the pole be a bit "beefier"

Great quality
For the price I am more than impressed with the quality, really like the fact that this is made in the USA. I feel more at ease, hooking onto power, knowing that I have a quality product to protect my trailer.

Prefer the Power Watchdog one
I returned this item. Iโm sure it would work fine but the Hughes power watchdog had more options including low voltage and app for use and resetting if necessary.
