A good read
A swashbuckling take from an author who knows about the sea and sailing big ships. I had no idea about the historical pirate round until I read this novel. Enjoyed the book.

A truly great read
From "The Guardship" then "The Blackbirder" and finally this book, I have been completely enthralled with this wonderful trilogy. This story has everything and gave me several very late nights. If you enjoy Forrester, Cornwell, Scarrow, Iggulden etc. etc., then you're going to love these books.

Good yarn of pirates
Good yarn of pirates, Nelson describes the sea with passion. I have long been a fan of Alexandra Kent and the Bolitho novels, enjoyed Nelson from a different perspective. The reader has empathy with the characters and their choices during this adventure, an enjoyable read.

Read all three
A rip roaring adventure and a can't put down trilogy. The book's are full of colourful devious characters that plot endlessly against each other. So pull on your sea going clothes and set sail with these lovable rogues.

A rising star in Naval fiction.
Great read Couldn't put it down. Perfect balance of scene setting and action .Will read much more of James Nelsons writings which are worthy of standing with O'Brien , Forrester and Kent

3 great books
A cracking trilogy of books each based around the same person but three very different stories, well written and appear to be very accurate from the sailing aspect.

Good final chapter to an engaging story.
This is a great final part to this trilogy. The story covers the excitement of a pirates life and the cost of that choice.
